AI Issues: Stalemates/Unresponsiveness/other

AI seems to have taken a large step back

Primarily playing single player, the AI is a very important element for me. It seems, however, to have taken a large step backwards in the Rebellion Beta, or as if about half the AI code was forgotten(?).  The AI is buggy and often unresponsive, getting stuck in stalemates in every game I have played so far.

Stalemates

In every game so far, once all the planets have been colonized, the AI seems to just shut down. I have tested this from Easy to Unfair and 2v2 to 6 player FFAs. Even in a 2v2 with all the AIs on Unfair/Aggressive, they end up sitting with their entire fleet on one planet, building a starbase there, and waiting. No AI is willing to attack their neighbor so the game ends up as a boring stalemate with me being the only one doing anything. This never happened in the other versions of the game.

Unresponsiveness

Once the game enters this stalemate state, the AI doesn't do anything to protect its other planets, and retreating forces stationed on them. Once, in a 3v3, one of the AIs did not stalemate like this, because it only expanded to four planets, so it stayed aggressive and attacked my ally. My ally sat there, his whole fleet (titan included) on an asteroid across the solar system doing nothing but spamming me with "It's not looking good for X" messages while half his empire was conquered by blue.

AI Capital Ships

From what I've seen so far, the AIs almost never use their capital ships for fighting. They send their frigates and cruisers to colonize a new planet while the capital ships patrol the back of their empire. This makes the AI fleets pretty easy to beat with so much of their resources in capital ships they aren't using.

Retreating

It seems now that the AI doesn't care at all for their planets if I arrive with a larger fleet than them, especially if I bring a titan. The AI fleets retreat as soon as I enter the gravity well, leaving the planet wide open for me to bomb and take.

These problems, for a single player person like me, are the biggest things that need to be fixed before release.

Thanks

I've found this to be true as well. I assumed it was because TEC Loyalists are so defensively oriented, but the retreating thing makes no sense. I haven't tried playing against the Rebels yet, but it looks like the same deal according to your post. What's the deal here?

Seguro que stardock ya lo sabe... deben ser errores de programacion, etc...

Yo tambien juego a un solo jugador

Sure that stardock already knows... must be errors of programming, etc...
I also play single player

fully agreed with this.

The ai will not attack the mosttime. they dont use there Capitals.

If u fight a slow fight with your titan on their planets the ai fleet will jump in, jump out, jump in, jump out...

The AI use superweapons (in my test) everytime on the same planet. regardless if there are weaker planets which can be killed with one shot.

The AI is not currently being addressed. Pinned by the devs:

In BETA 1, we're looking for feedback on the following:

  • TEC Loyalist / Rebel balance
  • Overall performance
  • Graphics issues (slowness, things being drawn incorrectly)
  • General bugs or crashes
  • Desync issues in multiplayer

I hope you're right, I was growing concerned about this not being posted in the Known Issues post or the "UnKnown Issues " thread.

It's hard to test balance when the enemy won't fight you. Just sayin'.

Stardock is aware of the problem.

In almost every post its the same thing being complained about in regards to the AI. anyone else notice it?

Yes, That is because most people don't read past posts, or they think the problem is new.

The Sins AI annoyances are nothing new, and they have plagued the game since Original Sins 1.01. However (barring the new rebellion AI issues which Stardock is aware of and fixing) The AI is somewhat better than most games, and it has improved over time with patching. It is still no match for a human player, but what AI ever is?

I am also pretty much a SP person as well, and i would like the AI to be as good as possible under the circumstances.
