Hello to all

Hi everyone

I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and say 'Hi' to the Demigod community.

Yesterday was in fact my first ever MOBA game of any kind.  I'd been somewhat put off trying LOL, HON or DOTA etc. for a few reasons; no AI to practive against/use to familiarise myself with the game, from what I've heard the player base can be somewhat less than friendly towards inexperienced players and lastly, I'd watched a few of Total Biscuit's LOL games (on youtube) and found them to be a bit 'meh' to watch (probably because I had no real appreciation for what was happening to be honest).

So Demigod appeared on Steam, it had AI opponents and was quite cheap so I gave it a go.  I'm happy to say that my impressions of watching a MOBA style game were completely different to playing it; I had a real blast playing as Unclean Beast in a skirmish match against the normal AI.  I really liked the slow build of the game and that the tactics are more involved than 'run in like Rambo'.  Amazingly, I won and gained most of the 'awards' (kills, flags etc.)  Doubtless the normal AI isn't too tough :-)

I did have one question which I thought of when reading Morgwyr's 'Demigod Basics' post:

"IMPORTANT NOTE: Items stack! This means, you can have 2 breastplates and 3 helms, and they all stack. Almost NEVER sell your starting items unless you need the slot for a better item."

This has me somewhat confused; the armour items are unavailable to buy if you have already purchased an item of that type, so how is it possible to have more than one?  I found that I had to sell an item first to free its slot before a new/different item was available to buy again.

The other thing I was wondering was (after I've played a few more practice games), where would be the best place to start to try some multiplayer?  Would that be the Pantheon?

TIA :-)

Hello stonberg and welcome to demigod !

For you first question I am not sure I understand. You can not have the same item twice buy you can buy 5 pieces of armor if that is what you want. The only restriction is the 5 item slots you have available and like I said you can't have the same item twice (for exemple 2 nimoth chestplate)

For the second question I'm not sure how many people actually play pantheon but you can join/host noob games in custom games and they usually fill  quickly.

go multiplayer, custom skirmishes.

first play a few games and wIN against mnightmare AIs.

Read wiki on items, think about your demigod and their usage.

http://demigod.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_items

Choose a few Demigodws, and read and youtube a bit abouit them (plenty of links on this forum, check them out).

Play with ppl.

Pantheon isnt usable since you need to have a lot of players logged in it, and presently just a few ppl are gaming on it together kind of a tournament.

As to items, you can have several chest plates of different types, or gloves, or boots, but you can't have more then 5.

Game is great. Im hooked to it too, didn't like LOL...

Cheers guys

I think I just got a bit confused about items; I guess that I must've filled up all 5 slots which prevented me from buying any more.

It might take me a while to win against the Nightmare AI, although I do need to step-up from Normal already.  Out of interest, does the Nightmare AI cheat (e.g. like the Insane AI in Starcraft 2)?

I'll take a look at the custom/multiplayer games in the not too distant future, I may have talked a friend into buying a copy too (we usually play SC2 or Magicka together online).

Yes nightmare AI cheats, they get much more gold and much more experience and that is the only reason why they are harder to beat because they still make many poor/stupid decision

like sitting in a place waiting for a few seconds?

I thought good things came to those who wait..? ;-)

Thanks for the feedback on the Nightmare AI; I played a skirmish game against the Hard AI yesterday and managed to win that, although in a subsequent 'Tournament' Hard AI game I got squashed.

I've been reading through a lot of the strategy articles on the forum, very helpful ta.

I was wondering what priority order people give to deciding what to do in the game, or is it situational?

e.g. cap flags, attack creeps, attack DGs, support friendly DGs, attack towers, support friendly creeps, upgrade citadel, buy equipment/items etc...

Cheers.

at start, get idols (monks) and items.

get flags, XP first, then HP mana flags, then rest.

Parallely kill creeps as much as you can, occasionaly go for a tower of theirs.

Dont upgrade keep with priests, let them do it first to get more XP gold from their dead priests?

Dont die.

Use area damaging spells to damage and kill as many creeps as you can.

Dont die.

Dont die.

Later on, if you can, get a hole in their defense and get their portal flag captured.

It can help a lot.

As to supporting friendly DGs - always. Even small help can get him to safety - and make you two counterstrike their solo DG or punch a hole in their defence.

Thanks!  Plenty of food for thought there :-)
