Is it possible to choose a particular expansion in the Steam release of GalCiv2?

It looks like the Steam version launches with Twilight of the Arnor enabled by default but I can't find an option to choose a different expansion.  I'm not talking about the campaign or anything, I just want to know how I can start a vanilla game of GalCiv2..

This is possible in Sins of a Solar Empire because the Steam launcher gives the option.  GalCiv2 doesn't seem to have anything like this.  The GC2Launch.exe file in the Steam folder doesn't do it either.

edit: Figured it out.  The executables are there, you just have to double-click them in the Steam folder.  Dread Lords is galciv2.exe in the root, Dark Avatar is GC2DarkAvatar.exe in the DarkAvatar subfolder.

It still would be nice to have this in a Steam launcher though!

Out of interest, why would you want to do this? As I understand it, the expansions only made the game better by adding new features and so on, there's no real reason to just play the base game, is there?

New features don't always make a game better.  Yeah, what was added in TA was nice, but it created all sorts of problems that have yet to be addressed by a patch.

The ultimate edition on Impulse works the same way. The 'default' is Twilight, and you have to manually hunt down the other exe to launch specific expansions

Search your system for "TALaunch"(In your twighlight folder) should allow you to switch between "Chapters" aka the different version of the game you should have granted you bought Ultimate. Also I hope this helps as I bought all my copies separately ages ago so I'm not sure if it works that way for Steam versions though it should. So give it a try and good luck!
