Are there boats and ocean transports in the current version?

If I play on a map with three large continents separated by ocean, will I be able to travel between the continents? I heard something about lack of boat/ship functionality and was looking for the full story. Thanks.

Boats have been removed.  They were in the game for a long time, but due to the computer not being able to use them at all, and the maps having very little use for them, they were removed.  The general philosophy since WoM release in regards to improve gameplay has been to remove any feature that would be difficult to fix.  FE might have also followed the same philosophy, as I don't think it will contain a dynasty, minor factions, or boats.  But that may or may not be true.  I think it might be difficult to program boats.  It seems like most games like this have had some difficulties with it, not just WoM.  CiV V just eliminated the problem kind of by making everything a transformer, so a knight hits the water and then has a boat.  Romance of the three Kingdoms did this in a few of there games too.  Fans don't seem to like it much, I know I don't care for it as it makes natural boundaries too easily overcome.

Yes, boats, ships, etc are 'dead in the water.'

Wait, so all those maps with multiple continents are completely pointless at this stage? >:|

If you have the terriforming spell book you can 'raise land' across to the other side or 'teleport' if you can see the other shore and it is within your zone of control.

Oh, great! Thanks so much!

The water in Elemental is less dense than Earth's water. This prevents ships from being useful. Either that or the water must be extremely acidic. I like to bullshit some lore to make these kinds of oversights a little less glaring.   ^_^'

Actually, the water is so polluted with elemental-magic-waste that it just 'consumes' nything that gets into it.  The meager amounts of 'fresh-water' inside the lad masses are the only remaining 'safe' water supply for biological beings.   (Sounds nice... sorta...)
