Yes / No / Maybe?

So.. I've heard alot about this game.  The launch was more or less an epic WTF with a side of ??.  However, the response from Stardock gave me hope and I've always been interested.  So, I'll ask the people who play it.  Is it worth picking up now or should I just wait for E:FE?

I love Civilization / Alpha Centauri / SoaSE.. and it sounds like the game tried to have a little bit of all that mixed in.  But I'd rather not jump into an ongoing mess.  Thoughts?

Wait for FE.

Heavenfall's After the War mod has made it quite a bit more playable, but still not close to what it should be.

I would consider the game 'good' but not 'great' now. Before this release it was 'poor' but with 1.4 I'm finding the game much better than it was. :)

For me it is now better than Civ 5 but probably a shade below patched Civ 4.

Heavenfall's mod improves the game but really the game is now good even without this. I'm finding I am losing track of time - which is always a good sign. Based on the games you mentioned I would say it is now worth playing.

No, wait for FE. That's getting significantly more attention and can do stuff like totally overhaul the production system (which needed it).

I thought the game was at its best in 1.3.....this 1.4 has been so buggy I would just wait for the next installment (which sucks cause I love this game so much)

I think you are alone in that opinion Sgt_Harris. 1.3 may have been more stable for you, but 1.4 fixed the ridiculous prestige problem. On a fun note, they added a similar prestige system to FE. We can now look forward to convincing them to remove/fix it!

@seanw3: Sir are you post stalking me???? :ninja:

I know that it was a bit over the top, but if you looked at it other things balanced out better, like the random events, and some animations were smoother. And as far as 1.4 goes, did you not see my lamentation over the MASSIVE glitches it is doing for me? It is the reason I have now had to quit playing the game entirely....simply because I have found no way to fix them

I know this makes me an exception but I have played this game on 2 different videocards over the past year and I seem to get fewer bugs and glitches than anyone else. I suppose my unbridled fanboyism has somehow made my copy immune to all but the most drastic of bugs. I seem to be 1000 turns in with no problems. There are of course balance issues that I plan to mod away in my next game, but I am able to enjoy the vanilla 1.4 without a hitch.

P.S. Stalking you and being the only other person posting here today is a fine line I suppose. Me posting = The amount of crap I am procrastinating at work/home.

It was a joke friend.

And you have to be the exception, because since 1.2 I have been having more issues than any person I know (not the computer, because it's a brand new top of the line made for videogames computer) I am just beginning to wonder if there is a coding error or something
