Baffled by some 1.2b changes

To be clear, I just started playing the game again a week or so ago. I'm baffled by many things, but that may not be the fault of the game. I was enjoying the game much more than my first few attempts, if that's any relief to the developers.

- My usual build order was Beacon of Hope, Farm... wait, no Hut? I had 48 free spaces, material to build it (even though the tooltip said otherwise) and no reason I could see why I couldn't build a hut. And in one game, never did a Hut become an option. My capital had five citizens for 30 seasons. /ragequit

- Increasing the build times of units and the study times of techs... I'm sure there's a master plan at work here, but it seems fairly dull. The rewards handed out by the game (new gear, new build options, etc) now come much too slow, in my opinion. Speeding up the pacing seems to be bugged, as the first time I looked at a peasant, it showed three seasons to build, but after I looked at a pioneer's training time and came back, it was 10 seasons.

- This sounds like I'm contradicting myself, but the items you *find* in the wild seem to come too quick. I like it better this way, but honestly, I'd trade 50% of the increase for a cheap unit to guard my city. Having a well equipped hero that can't move more than five squares away from home seems to make this issue stand out

- Maybe 50% of the time I've tried to start a game, I've gotten a "cannot connect" message. There's no reason for this on my end. Never seen this prior to the update.

- It looks like movement through some terrain is more expensive now (or I'm wildly unlucky). It'd be nice if there was some way to see the cost of movement into squares or have the AI take somewhat more intelligent paths to destinations, but buying travelling boots doesn't seem to convey as large a movement bonus as they used to. Limiting us to one hero (and I have yet to *see* a hero for hire), then taking away mobility seems harsh.

- 10 seasons for a peasant? Nearly three years to train someone to swing a club? Really? I hate it when folks try to force realism into their fantasy games just for the sake of realism, but I've lost two towns to wandering monsters (3 hp monsters?!) because I couldn't get back in time with my only hero. Those were /ragequits too.

- I've seen it mentioned often while trying to figure out why Huts seem so utterly goofy (to me), but the strategic/cloth map seems to have a number of issues.

- This was from prior to the update, but since I haven't seen, much less hired, a new hero since then, I'll just add this in. Rarely, maybe 1 in 10 heros, there would be no Equip button. I could buy items, but they just carried them around unequipped. I couldn't find a reason for this... is there one?

I appreciate any clarifications that can be offered. Ignorance is a terrible thing! ;)

- I just managed to build a peasant. What's the "4" at the bottom of the portrait for... number of men?

Yep. It should be a squad of 4.

- Sovereign's health seems to be fluxuating. I've gone from 17 to 11. Interestingly, it seems to depend on what screen I looked at last.

- I just ate some salted pork and my health didn't increase.

YEs, its different now.  One thing to do, is take your first 'city' promotion and use it to get (a) 'guardian' unit(s).

- The Movement tech doesn't seem to do anything. All units have same movement, both existing and those built after the tech was (painfully) learned.

EDIT: Sorry, it works, but the extra movement isn't reflected in the movement statistic.

ROFLMAO here we go again.

Beta patches require you to connect to the servers at startup. It is removed each time with release versions. Could be any number of problems causing this.. servers are busy etc.

Again its part of the beta versions and will again be removed when the release version is put out after the testing phase.

It may be that funny, but at the very least, having the error message report this as a possible reason would make for fewer posts of this ilk.

- It looks like only heroes hired after learning Equipment can actually see the items in the shop to buy. Actually, I bought padded armor with a hero and then traded it all to my Sovereign... and he couldn't see it in inventory to equip, although he could trade it back.

- Err, Mounted Warfare and Weaponry both show up and are usable by Sovereign (and other heroes). So far, just Equipment seems wonky.

EDIT: Equipment, not Warfare I.

I realize no one particularly cares, but there are still far too many basic problems with this game for me to find it enjoyable to play. I am looking forward to playing this as a more stable, transparent game.

I'd love to know what's going on with the variables, since clearly there are some being kept in multiple variables. I realize my banking back end code experience doesn't exactly translate, but it still makes me shiver. I'd have been justifiably fired for trying that.

As a suggestion, if you have a stat, the player should be able to see how it's being generated. Labor vs. citizens is what did it for me, but there are lots of other examples I could name. My labor number would jump up, randomly as far as I could tell, and there was no way for me to see how that number came into being. I went through one game and added up everything I could find that had a labor expense, but that was for two towns... hardly practical. Also, the numbers didn't add up, which might have been a bug I could report or might have been me missing something, but without the transparency, there's no way for the player base to know with any certainty.
