How do I get my RaceConfig Edits to appear in the game?

Hello, I hope someone can help.  I have edited the RaceConfig file and the edits in the "Pick Your Civilization" screen and then when I hit "Next" it takes me to "Customize Your Civilization" as if it is a custom civilization.  How to make my edits appear in the game?

Wrong. That information is out of date.

I am having the same problem, which I had solved a dew years ago but now escapes me. I'll let you know if I find the answer.

On the first tab of the Customise your Civilization screen there is a Clear button.  That should pull your updated RaceConfig values from the file.  However this will only work for major races, if you clear a custom race (Race ID 12 isn't it?) it will clear back to the custom default.

You can also clear just the trait picks, by selecting Reset on the Abilities tab.  This will pull the inherent racial abilities from whichever raceconfig.xml you have loaded.  Inherent abilities are defined at the end of those files like this:

        <ECONOMICS>10</ECONOMICS>

Right after that is a line like this which says how many picks have been invested in the current configuration:

        <Ability0>0</Ability29>

So if you want a custom race which has its own unique racial bonuses (or penalties) and still have room to customise, this is one way you could do it.

I did it like this:

Find the raceconfig for any race. Delete all others. Add your entire raceconfig to that xml and delete its information. This way the computer likes the file and will give you your custom races. If you want them to be displayed at the main choose your character screen, just make their internal name Drengin and use the drengin race id number from the main raceconfig file and so on and so forth.

Love my new Captain Proton vs Dalek vs Queen Aracnia scenario. Good hunting.
