Is it possible to change options during play ?

Removing "surrender" option...

Well, nearly everything is in the title.

It'd been a while since I launched a GC2, but I suddendly got my crave moment of sci-fi Civ-like game, and I went back to play. But my memories were a bit foggy, so I didn't really remembered what "surrender" option allowed. I mixed it with the "allow vassal" in Civ game.

Sadly, the "surrender" option doesn't make a civ the vassal of another, it makes it give its assets and disappear. I really doesn't like this, but I'm in the middle of a game and I would like to finish it.

So here is the question : is it possible to remove the "allow surrender" option in the middle of the game ? Be it with cheats, modifying a save with Notepad or using a built-in feature, but it would really be great if it was possible.

Thanks in advance !

There is no provision for doing that in the game and no known save-editing hack to do so that I'm aware of.

Damn, too bad :-/

Maybe some day you could integrate a "vassal" option in the game, though ? *hopeful and angelic stare*

Yeah, that would be nice. Particularly for minor races, as right now you're going to have to wipe them out eventually just to stop the other guys from conquering them themselves. Although it is possible to get a badly-off minor race to trade you their homeworld, so war isn't the only option. But there's still no way for them to survive to the end of the game unless you do a lot of modding.

It is a good way of getting a decent planet for stupid money though when the minor has been removed. The turn after go to the major race an trade in a few thousand for a L16 plane that could contain many decent upgrades. For some reason they always go for it every time lol
