Pirate Bounty

In every "Sins" game I've played, whenever I post pirate bounty on an AI player, it immediately counter-post bounty on me.

All players have met in-game, but AI players have only posted bounty to Human players. But the main annoyance is the AI player "knows" who put the bounty on them and immediately posts bounty on the poster.

How does the AI player know who put the bounty on them?

Thanks

I haven't messed with pirates lately, but I thought they either posted bounty on the player who is cheapest to direct the raid towards, or who is doing the best.

Of course I could be completely wrong, but most Sins players play with them off so that doesn't become an issue. Much more enjoyable that way.

Sometimes they'll initiate a bidding war if you put bounties on two AI who are set to oppose one another.  Of course with locked teams you cannot do that, so expect a thousand raids heading your way(Diplomacy note: until you unlock pirate missions and send a death raid to their homeworld).  If you're playing vanilla or Entrenchment, the pirates can be fun to have around.  If you have Diplomacy their imbalanced nature means they should remain off unless you're just fooling around with them specifically for fun.

Yeah, there's definitely something wrong with the way the AI addresses bounty in Diplomacy.  You'd think they'd be putting bounty on neighbors and that when the Pirates are about to raid that everyone would be trying to get them to attack a neighbor based on their strategy at the time, but no it's usually just "put bounty on the non-AI player."  I've just started playing with them off in Diplomacy, and depending on how the next couple games go I might just go back to playing Entrenchment.
