installing games from archive ( FOUND IT )

i had to do a complete reinstall of my OS and i am in the process of reinstalling all of my gal civ games , what i want to know is can i reinstall them from my archive folder ? i remmember seeing something about this in a post a good while back but i don't know if it's possible or not ( as i can't remmember where the post was ) .  any help would be great.
