Random Demigod Discussions

Hey guys,

This is just a quick rant thread from me - discuss whatever you want if you want to join in or comment on whatever I'm gibber jabbering about.

So - after a somewhat frustrating night of demigod (though I was quite happy to be able to play again after a few day break) - a user by the name of "new" joined the vent and pm'd me.  He made some comment indicating that it was your_maker, so I decided to discuss things with him.  Anyway, long chit-chat short, apparently this guy has a beef with me because I kicked him from a game some time ago to make room for one of my omg buddies.  He even acknowledged that he saw my message that I was making room for one of my buds and that I said sorry for kicking.  Anyway, I dropped him and my bud joined.  After that, this sweet fellow started sending me pm's threatening me and being obnoxious.  During our chat tonight, he indicated that he was completely incensed because I apparently kicked him FROM 1 GAME because he would have kicked my butt because his team was stronger than mine.  He seemed quite adamant in that.  I asked him to take a look at my games played list and let me know if I only play on stronger teams.  He came back and said I played a game with darkliath so I must only stack teams.  Brilliant.  Anyway, for those of you that know know, I'm generally the guy that is willing to play on the weaker team if a bunch of my buds are online and we don't have enough folks.  Anyway, all of that crap said, he doesn't seen to be willing to discuss anything much.  I'm apparently lying from 1 game a month or so ago where I kicked him to make room for a pal... and he's been harassing me ever since... along with several other folks for similar bs reasons.

Here again, people need to learn to stop pissing of the wrong people or they will feel the consequences, such as not being able to play in the tournament. Also, that yourmaker is getting way too much attention in my opinion.

ya .. sounds like yourmaker is just trolling hard.  Pacov definitely plays on the underdog side a lot.  Hell just look @ the tourney.. he's willing to play with soccer and cow! ;)  But srsly.. he's the one who really started all the balance shit, found the public vent server for everyone, encouraged everyone to play on it in balanced teams on vent, etc.

I'm new here, but sadly, I'm already acquainted with the guy pacov mentioned. I've already received my fair share of abusive comments from him (he was being an utter imbecile, getting systematically overextended and killed by towers, no less -- then blaming me of refusing to babysit him 24/7 with Sed). I'm surprised you feel a need to justify your actions: 99% of people I've talked to online have already told me to stay away from that idiot, so... Really, anyone with an IQ slightly above an average gorilla's level can tell who's who here.

Yeah, he is really strange person... But there's no need to give him too much attention. Yeah, it's good to warn players, so they would know what to expect, but talking to him is meaningless. I tried to do that long ago, and got harassed ever since (~1 month full of various messages of threatening, spamming, etc), but ignorance beats his ego. Just absolutely ignore and you would be fine. However playing with him or against him is tough (especially with him on team).

Moreover. Yesterday, after playing with you, Pacov, I played a game of 3v3 when your_maker was on enemy side. Of course his allies got harassed for every death they got and thus forced one of his teammates to leave the game. After that, he started pm'ing me to leave the match, because it's not equal. He was doing this for some time and then started to scream in game chat the same thing "Dark, leave the match!" or something similar. I didn't and got blamed again for playing on stacked teams ^_^

To your_maker. Yeah, I play on stacked teams as much as I can and would be willing to beat you next time ;)

Edit: Pacov, don't listen to what he says. It looks like as if you need to put arguments that you don't play on stacked teams, etc. You know yourself and other people also that it's not true. As of now I probably didn't see a single time when you would try on purpose to make your team stronger

P.S. Interesting argument of your_maker that playing with me = stacking teams. So this same argument for me would be equal to - me always stacking teams  8O

Yeah, I play on stacked teams as much as I can

Yeah, I remeber some completely unbalanced games I've played with you! Stacked teams, indeed! Especially the one your Oc had his mind firmly set on feeding some bad-mannered Russian guys with 20% wins ;) To quote VreDuHa once again: "Dark, you loh, go pvp!" O:)  (Loh is a term that eludes translation. "Loser" is somewhat close semantically, perhaps. Anyway, the original exclamation after Dark sniped him was: "Дарк, ты лох, давай пвп!!!")

And seriously, I don't think this guy deserves to be mentioned by serious players/DG enthusiasts like Pacov at all. Too much honor for that jerk, pardon my French.

Well - t'was a topic for a minute.  Nuff said.  I just hadn't had a chat with the fellow in a bit and found it interesting and annoying.  Moving swiftly on...

So morpheas is back playing dg again.  He's a good guy and an excellent dg player (will take him a few games to get the rust off, of course -as its been awhile).  Anyway, its nice to have someone that left for a bit come back.  He's an asset to our small community.

hmm... rawrrr said he'll be putting up another commentary - likely today.  I think its one from a few weeks ago (eg not a tourney game), but his commentaries are entertaining and interesting.

live broadcasts - apparently I can do them but rawrrr cannot.  I've only got about 1 meg upload and he has 3 megs, but he apparently broadcast without getting a crazy high ping.  This is a shame as rawrrr is a much better at live commentary than I am.  I have been doing some live streams that it seems like some folks get a kick out of watching... I need to probably only broadcast games that seem like they might have some probability of being interesting.  I suppose the neat thing is that I have it setup to broadcast the chat that's going on in the vent, so you get to hear the team gibber jabbering, but you are restricted to viewing my POV only.  I personally don't think I'd enjoy watching live streams though, but who knows - maybe a few of you guys should give it a go.  I broadcast through xfire and its pretty easy to set it up.  And to test, I'd host a game, have people join, start broadcasting and see if my ping went crazy or not.  If the ping stayed close to the same or only jumped about 50ms, i was good to go.

I always enjoy watching live streams, especially if the teams are even and of a higher skill!

ya I enjoy watching live streams as well.

I would like to watch some live streams of demigod too. They would probably a lot less time consuming for you guys that are commentating also, if you miss something just move on. I’ve only watched a few but the one thing I would like to see in these replays and/or live streams is some closer close ups, like a full screen or a different angle of a can of whoop ass being opened, or even a slow-mo, full screen-zoom in-360 camera swing around a good battle.  I know that there is action usually going on on both sides of the map so this might be hard but I think it would be cool.

Concerning your_maker, I have also had my share of run-ins with him. I think he still hates me because I used to whoop him on his bramgod account. He usually dodges me unless the game is really stacked in his favor. I was in the game that Darkliath was talking about. It was me, Dark and a guy that had only 5 games and 0% vs an ok mix of 40-something% to his 60%. I do enjoy being the underdog team but I was kinda worried about the new guy on ours and really doubted that we could win. Still I am always up for a challenge. Dark and I got an early kill and proceeded to chase Maker well into enemy mid towers and got the double kill. After that it was over, the mindless babble from the guy started forcing one of his teammates to leave and then continuing with Darkliath the rest of the game.

At first I thought this stuff was funny in any other game I’ve played with him he’s always ends up looking like an ass but after hearing the stuff about this guy pretty much stalking people it’s not funny anymore and it shouldn’t be tolerated. I don’t know what the solution is. Ban a guy he’s just going to open up another account. Boot and ignore the guy that’s about it. It’s just a shame that most of the newer people to the game are getting a taste of this guy right off. The majority of his games are against really new people and I can’t help but wonder how many opinions of our community have been formed from an encounter with this individual.

On a side note, I apologize for asking for it then making Chees and Darkliath sit thru that whole game vs me noob and AI. I was so bored last night I was really playing anything but thanks for the game.

edit: Oh and a side note to my side note. I would just like to clarify that it was I that asked for this game and had nothing to do with Chees or Darkliath. I just got tired of sitting in the lobby waiting for people to join.

End of quote

its no big deal - we were in the lobby for a LOOOONNNNGGG time - just happy to play - same as you.

I did post a commentary that is like what you described - took me a long time to produce and its only so-so, but it was my first effort :)  Rawrrr watches the replays and generally does live commentary, where my approach was to watch the replay 1 time through, write down specific times that kills occurred, etc, and then slow the action in game quite a bit to show how the kills happened.

Not to throw fuel on an already lit fire but I have been refusing to play with your_maker for some time now. The abusive pm's and general low quality games that this guy puts out (both through comments and asinine general play and tactics) means he is just a total loss in game for his/her team and the opposition.

Because his account was banned.  Look  - your_maker - easy solution for happy gaming in your future.  Play on your stardock-team account or any new one you pick up.  Don't treat people like crap in games.  Don't relentlessly harass people.  Suddenly, no one has a problem with you.  Strange stuff...

It's really that simple.  No one really cares if you go and no one minds if you stay if you can somehow get a handle on your horrible attitude.

Anyway -his latest accounts are your_maker (banned at least for now).  Bramgod/and stardock-team

In the event that he decides to change his user name and continue stalking folks, here's a link to his pantheon results.  This will always show his current user name:

I reiterate - all you really need to do is stop acting like a jerk...

Just curious but how do you know they are all the same people? Is that from IP traces or something?

finding out smurf accounts isnt difficult...

he posted on stardock team saying he was your_maker and bramgod.  Knew he was bramgod from before as well from something else.. can't recall.

well, for those that are interested - your_maker replies here regularly on different accounts.  This pretty much takes the trouble out of looking.  But that said, yes, you can find users by IP trace as long as you know where to look for the IP.  Especially on a user that's jumping from account to account and following me about.  Anyway, the last thing he told me was that he's my worst nightmare.

...

Anyway, I forward his comments onto stardock (so its clear what his behavior is and has been)... so, now he's been banned on 1 account.  He has several others that I listed, but those won't be banned unless he continues his behavior on them as well (i doubt it will take him long, sadly).  He apparently has trouble learning that all he has to do is stop being a jerk and there wouldn't be a bit of hostility towards him.  I really wonder why he has a problem accepting that he doesn't have many friends in demigod when all he does is insult people on his team and those he's against. In his head, he's a great player that's simply being discriminated against because people are afraid of his talent or... well, I don't really know.  Its just a game that several of us play for fun.  And he's a guy that chases new players off.  At any rate, he's getting some attention by pestering me, so perhaps that helping him in his life someway.  I'm thinking of just starting a tribute thread so he can live out his dreams there.  Though I should probably (and will likely) just ignore his bullocks going forward.  I really want to give the guy the benefit on the doubt, but he seems hellbent on just being a nuisance, so I can only assume that he's just a guy starved for attention and has found that in my bothering to acknowledge him.

Anyway, blahblahblah - just relax bud - have fun in demigod land.  Play some games.  Enjoy yourself.

Side note - old timey stat exploiter alienwarrior has changed his name and now goes by 01GoldAngel.  For those of you that may have forgotten, this guy uses the host disconnect 100% of the time if he's going to take a loss.

I had several individuals report user cambokill to me tonight for exploiting.  Now, its not technically exploiting.  Its that same childish nonsense where folks intentionally choose silly game settings to give themselves an unfair advantage without letting players that join know what is up.

Anyway, I've been chatting with this guy back and forth a bit.  He agreed to ask players to check the settings before readying up.  I'm not going to go into super detail, but the bottom line is that he's using a somewhat simple system to give him a nice advatange against players (having an ai on his team, no less).  If that fails, he leaves the speed settings on adjustable so he can slow the game down as he's sees fit (likely forcing a quit).

Anyway, fair notice - if you see username cambokillhttp://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/player/105442 (see link in case he changes his name).  Check the settings and confirm that you are ok with them.  He actually seems somewhat intelligent as he's come up with a very strong system to beat 2 players with an AI on his team.

A More fair and funner way to do this, is to select UB and your ai as ere. Settings as follows: Ai Hitpoint Very High, Ai Gold Low, Towers Normal, Filthy rich, Lvl 20 start. either ere or oak start with about 12k hp and they have 50,000 to spend. Their hp regen is absolutely insane. However 2 talented players CAN kill him, if you're a good ub and max your ooze, you should have no problem killing them a couple times then wrecking the citadel with your own claws!

No, Cambokill is most definitely not Your_Maker. Cambokill is an Aussie living in Japan (I've talked to him several times), and not a totally bad player (at least, he understands some of the less obvious game mechanics and does not always bash noobs). I guess you might call him an asshole by the virtue of the very fact of not always telling newer players what the game settings are and adjusting game speed at will. That said, I wouldn't call him a cheater per se. AFAIK, neither is he a rage-quitter (not sure about that, though). Anyway, I'm confident a more-or-less coordinated intermediate skill team (preferably, speed ninja + pure assassin) can turn his own strategy against him, gaining access to that artifact flag earlier with the ninja, then investing combined 50k to make the assassin invincible, then repeatedly slaughtering his UB. The issue is, he rarely plays non-noobs.

FYI, Your_Maker is from Belgium (just take a look at the country ID whenever he hosts: it's BE for Maker and his twink accs, JP for Cambo). Moreover, their syntax and thesaurus aren't similar in the least, and it's obvious English is Cambo's native language (sorry for that, I'm a linguist :)).

jeeze... I walk away for several hours... hmm...

Here's the only thing you need to know about Cambokill - he plays game with settings that give him an advantage by adding an AI to his team.  He obviously spent a little time trying various combinations and came up with one that gives an AI on his team a substantial advantage over human opponents.  Is that cheating?  No.  Is playing games with custom settings something anyone would get banned over?  No.  Several folks reported him to me yesterday or the day before, I looked into it, and am reporting here that I don't believe he's cheating at all.  He also agreed (at the time I discussed this with him) to point out that he uses those custom settings if folks join (but has since changed his mind apparently).  Realistically, should he have to tell folks to check the settings?  No.  People should check the settings on their own.  This is a simple heads up to check the settings in a game with him (like you should in any game with anyone).  So, again, I don't see any evidence that he's cheating/desyncing games/etc, but he does stack things in his favor (giving him roughly a 20% chance of losing against 2 human opponents with 1 AI on his team).  So, unless you are up for the challenge of trying to win a game with odds stacked against you, I'd just suggest avoiding games where he is the host and puts an AI on his team.
