Is there a chat option in starcraft 2 multiplater mode?

I am wondering this becuase I bought starcraft 2 and I would like to know if there are chatrooms in the game? I have no idea if they have them.

No, there are no chat rooms. You can chat with people on your buddy list, and people in the same game as you, but that's it.
