Getting A Mod to Work

Okay, so, I want to use Sins Plus, because it's awesome, so I download it, put it in

C:\Documents and Settings\(my username)\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Diplomacy v1.011

Load the game, click enable mod, and then click apply changes.

The game crashes, and I can't get out with the task manager, so I have to shut down my comp, and start it again.

This time I run it in windowed mode (so I can use taskmanager to shut it down), and try again, with all of my settings at their lowest.  This crashes as well.  I try again, turn off all effects, and it crashes again.

Maybe I'm putting it in the wrong folder, or something, but it just isn't working.  It says it's for Diplomacy, maybe I just can't read?

did u download the right version of Sins plus to go with diplo 1.011?

the file you downloaded was called SinsPlusDip_v1.01.7z ?

and you extracted the contents of the archive to your Mods-Diplomacy v1.011 folder?

and you are not trying to use any other mods at the same time?

I just want to find out the exact setup so that I can duplicate & find the problem(s).

I got it from my friend, who runs the exact same build of the game as I do, and it worked fine on his computer.

I put it:

C:\Documents and Settings\(my username)\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods-Diplomacy v1.011

And, no, I was not trying to use any other mods.

what is the folder name?, which sins plus mod is it? I have over half a dozen different ones, but the one I listed is the first one with dip in the name

assuming that you have ALL the files from the mod and that the mod IS the SinsPlusDip_v1.01, you SHOULD have the following folders in the mod's folder,
GalaxyForge,
GameInfo,
Mesh,
Movie,
Particle,
PipelineEffect,
Sound,String,
TextureAnimations,
Textures,
Window,
and four manifest files, brush, entity, galaxy and skybox. and the total file size when you select ALL of the folders & files in the mod SHOULD BE 352,827,577 bytes

if any of these are missing then you do NOT have the full mod, and should copy the entire mod that does have these folders & size

Also, if you are new to installing mods, the main mod folder is in ...\Mods-Diplomacy v1.011 so it should look something like

...\Mods-Diplomacy v1.011\SinsPlusDip_v1.01

with all the folders harpo listed inside the mod folder so the addresses inside the mod should look something like.

...\Mods-Diplomacy v1.011\SinsPlusDip_v1.01\GalaxyForge
...\Mods-Diplomacy v1.011\SinsPlusDip_v1.01\GameInfo
...\Mods-Diplomacy v1.011\SinsPlusDip_v1.01\Mesh

Here is a look at a simple Test Mod with 2 folders inside.

What exactly is the name of the mod and where did you or your friend get it from?

Wow, I'm missing the four .manifest files, and a couple of the folders...  But that doesn't explain how it works for my friend and not me...  I'll try downloading it.

Okay, when I try to download it, both of the sites give me an error.  Should I turn off antivirus?
