Problem with ships not attacking

Has anyone else noticed that when you have a large group of ships on auto attack and you send them into battle against another large fleet, a great number of your ships will just end up sitting there doing nothing?  If you watch them long enough they'll eventually pick a target and shoot a bit... then they just sit here again... Unless you manually force them to attack stuff a lot of ships spend too much time doing nothing when they could be fighting.. it's a bit frustrating..

I've checked all their settings such as making sure they're set to attack anything in the whole gravity well and auto attack is turned on etc...

I've noticed this myself and its usually the jurasek sentinel for the vasari.. when there are no fighters/bombers in the battle they act normally but if there are fighters/bombers they sit and wait for those ships to get close to fire at but do nothing else.

You could do an Alt-Click to select all ships of a given type and then, click attack, and then hold shift as you queue up a bunch of attack orders on different enemy ships, one by one, perhaps by clicking on enemy ships on the Empire Tree or in the gravity well.

I know how to manually manipulate them but it would be nice if they auto attacked like they are supposed to.
