Ds and TSOP a question.

I love playing Distant stars, the problem is by todays standards my computer is pretty low end. But i can still play the mod despite all of the extras and enjoy the game thoroughly.

DS however on the larger mags that i prefer slow down and sort of lags after a while of playing, even after botting computer and reloading it seems to keep at the same level of lag.

Now i recently started using the sins optimization project and felt the difference from normal gameplay, i couldnt believe how much it helped.

The problem is when i try and use both mods together, with DS's graphical mods built in and extra effects it seems to nullify the effects of TSOP

How to disable the graphical and effect mods from within the main mod so my computer has a chance at lasting in a long large game

If the file references are the same, the mod that is on top is the files that will be used. If TSOP is on top of DS, all the particles of the same name that are in TOP will be used. If you place DS as the top most mod, its files of the same name will override TOPs.

Pretty much what Myfisto said.. I forgot about requiem using bailknights particles, and manshooters volumetrics. It would still be better to enable Requiem over TSOP because of the optimized vanilla sins meshes (strike craft, starbase textures, and constructor units). Your mileage may vary. It wont be much of a savings, but better than nothing at all. Plus no guarantee that it wont crash.

Try using the unoffical MP update. Found on the DS MP topic. Link is in the DS Topic's Orginial Post.

I have not looked at the core files of DS itself, but if DS, and other mods followed the standard set by TSOP Like switching to slightly smaller DDS textures, and removing the file\folder references in the particles, and other files then there wouldnt be a problem like what you have, and mods wouldnt have as many issues as they do now.

This is not a diss of the mod teams because nobody at the time knew that Sins would have a seizure if you hit the 2 gig mark. Now we are all fighting the 2 gig issue.

I really dont recommend you run TSOP with other mods right now, because there are some issues we need to iron out. We are updating the mod, and it will be much more compatible with other mods once the update is done.
