I don't usually post WIP's however in this case I am making an exception. it's a long way from being ready for prime time but I thought I'd share what the start menu looks like.
Looks like you have a great idea started......grabbed my curiosity, I'm excited to see what the rest will look like! 
gmc2? i seem to remember a gmc2....naaah couldn't be him.
looks promising, gmc2....keep going!

How about a snowflake glyph at the bottom right of the start menu, or perhaps in a slightly lighter tone behind the graphics on the right side?
