So. I'm looking for people to play with.

Like the title says, I'm looking for people to play with, I've had the game since release.. Just never really played online due to various connectivity issues, tried to play yesterday, connectivity issues were no more, but due to not having played online.. nobody would let me stay in there games because I have no online record of activity. There's only so many games where one can stomach pounding the hell out of AI before going insane. ( 2 v 1, 3 v 1, 5 v 1.. evil difficulty.. etc ). I consider myself to be a decent player, I can use any of the demigods ( assassins or generals ) , anyone interested give me a shout on msn messenger:

 ( habuza@live.com )

Until then.. I guess I'll just keep trying to join multiplayer games

Host your own newb only games. It works. :D

Glad to see a new DG player, welcome! My advice would be to check out replays on http://www.gamereplays.org/demigod to see a general gist of the differences between single and multiplayer :D

Pacov has some great commentary on some of the current Tourney's games:

Here
And Here
Aand Here

Enjoy, and look forward to seein ya online! (When I get my damn internet back on Friday! *grumble)

I'd play a game with ya now, but I'm currently without Intahwebs. :(

Hit me up if ya need anything or for a game after the 30th :D

The main point, there is a huge disparity between new players and experienced players. DG's gameplay mechanics are very unforgiving to inexperienced players playing experienced players, and it is not fun to be on this slippery slope of no hope once you see you are rolling down it.

You could also try some Pantheon games, as they will get you some 1on1 action where you learn really quick the capabilities of individual DGs.

If you sit there for 20 minutes you will usually get a game going.

And hey... you are already 1 step ahead of the other new people by being smart enough to come to the DG forums. :D

Good work and welcome. :D You'll be a decent UB/LE player in no time.

Just a side note : I know how to use all the DG's :P  I also come from simliar games like DoTA and League of Legends ( LoL ) So the game mechanics are nothing new to me, I don't have a game winning / breaking DG either because I decided to try to be well rounded.

Habuza I'm one of the somewhat rare players who don't mind playing with beginners on my team as long as they're someone like yourself who has actually mastered the single player game before going online.  Heres some tips:

-Its going to be totally different with experienced players so try joining noob games or host your own for a while and build up a decent record.

-Be humble and take any suggestions your teamates give you if you manage to get into a somewhat experienced game.  Its really annoying for me to say I'm fine with playing with a newbie cause he's played the single player and used to play DotA blah blah, then when I'm trying to help him get the right items, he tells me its not part of his build?  If you've played a total of 10 games and only won 2 of them, then your build is whatever your allies tell you its going to be.

-Don't gimp yourself with your demigod selection.  If I see an inexperienced player join my team I might think to myself "Eh screw it... its just a game and we all had to learn sometime... maybe I can give him a few pointers."  Then he'll choose Regulus and I'll tell the host to boot him.  Choose Unclean Beast when you're learning, he's obscenely overpowered and simple to play.  If you get bored with him or someone else picked him, start using Erebus... if you're on a team where two people already have these guys selected then Sedna or Oak are acceptable.  When playing a general always always alway buy monks as your first item or your teamates might quit right away.

"I don't have a game winning / breaking DG either because I decided to try to be well rounded."

Don't you worry about abusing powerful demigods, worry more about trying to keep your win percentage above 7% so people will hopefully be more inclined to have you on their team.

-Don't rage quit... I don't like playing with a beginner, have him lose the game by dying too many times, then as I'm about ready to tell him its ok but he should do this and this different... he just quits without saying anything leaving his teamates thinking "Really glad we wasted 20 minutes playing with someone who ain't got any interest in figuring out what he did wrong." It shows up on your player info how many games you've completed so be aware that folks around here don't take kindly to rage quitters.

Duly noted :) I don't think rage quitters are liked in any game though. As far as items I'm open to suggestions, but I'm betting the varying load-outs for whatever DG you use can be tweaked. On fast/hard hitting assassin types I tend to use a lot of life leeching / crit boosting stuff and snag mana / hp on whatever is handy.  Even in singleplayer I go w/ monks first as a general.. just seemed like the logical choice. As for win %.. right now it's 0. lol I haven't played any online games for DG yet. But I'm hoping my 300+ rounds under my belt will help :dur:

Habuza, get a microphone (if you dont have one) and ventrillo, search the forums for the lagwars vent and jump on.

im usually on around 9pm EST, hit me up and i'll play some with you, we can also get some others involved as well.

This will significantly reduce your learning curve.

also... standard equipment:

If you are a general (Oak, erebus, queen, sedna, occulus) always get monks as your starting gear.

Assassins usually get: Banded Armor & scaled helm.

(FYI HP stacking is better than armor stacking in most cases)

Other gear that you should pay attention to for most demi's:  Nimoths armor, unbreakable boots, hauberk*, vlemish (first big helm for most maps except leviathan), plenor (your second best helm in most cases, although it should be your first on leviathan), narmoths,

Favor items: the standard are Blood of the Fallen, swift anklet
Generals:  Cloak of the Night, Horn of Battle, Ring of Diving Might

Assassins:  Blade of the Serpent (hard to use unless experienced), poisoned dagger, staff of renewal & heavens wrath.

yeah Thunder and I run with newbies all the time. I'm a little more brutal than Thunder on "training" but

Emphasis on playing UB/Ereb/Oak because they will keep your win % higher which means you'll actually get to play rather than get kicked.

Also:

your build is whatever your allies tell you its going to be.

See you on lagwars, I s'pose.
