Hosting Problem

I tried earlier to host my own game for myself and a mate to play, we both launched SoaSE: Trinity and are both updated to v1.011, however everytime he tried to join my game it ses "Your meshes differ to the host" or as close to that as i can remember. It is however definatly something to do with meshes, i have zero mods installed or running and we both checked and double checked the version numbers........

Anyone have a solution to this problem, also tried a stanard LAN game and we get the same problem. Any help here would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance Apollo :S

Thanks for that....... checked my Mesh folder within the Sins directory and i don`t have any of those files in there, so will get my mate to check his, hopefully thats where the problem is, i.e him having those and mine not having them.

Once again thank you :D

Ok still getting problems with meshes, my mate has even re-installed and updated his Sins, i personally checked both mine and his mesh folder within c:/program files/stardock games/sins of a solar empire/mesh.... and we both the exact same files/meshes and niether of us have any of the files listed in the forum that the link is provided for.

So is there anything else that can be done ??

Also, consider posting a new thread with all of that information in the Technical discussion forum.  This problem with the mesh files that people have been having is a black eye to what is otherwise a great game.

completly uninstalling and DELETING all files and related folders to sins uasually solves this issue... and then reinstall from impluse

ya, its a pain, but it works.

What did you need to do?

What follows is the email they sent to me about how to fix the mesh problem......

To clear out your mesh files, you'll need to go into the application folder (right click in Impulse, select 'Open application folder'), and there are three different 'Mesh' folders. The first is in the root folder, and there may be two more, depending on which version of the game you have, in the \Entrenchment and \Diplomacy folders. Delete everything in those folders, then right click on the game(s) in Impulse, and select 'Verify Installation'. Impulse will check the integrity of the installed application, and an update should be made available in Impulse. This is not an update to a newer version, but simply Impulse using the update mechanism to replace the missing files. Once you complete the update, reboot your computer.

Hope this helps anyone with the problem i have recently had !!

I'm going to quote Apollo's post and post it to the Mesh File problem thread at the Technical Forum.  By the way, if you encounter people online who have the problem, direct them to this link which will take them to the right thread:

It sounds like hardware or software problem to me. Token ring networks, there are five types; what kind do you have. Channels vs address? OK you have the same versions, but they can not talk to each other. Probably will have to break it  down and tests to if they (the software) can talk each other on a smaller scale. Who's hosting the gateway? and what are they allowing thru' there filters.. How much am I paying for?ie through a channel, how may players can access the gateway.
