I can't imagine how you'd run out of things to play... Action, RPG, Tactical RPG/Strategy, RTS, and Turn-Based Strategy pretty much describes everything.
I guess try something free, like Battle for Wesnoth. You might consider switching mediums. Board games? PnP roleplaying? Card games? All these things are fun to do.
I am always looking for games to play as I hardly find any. I reccomend Kings Bounty Armoured Princess and CIV IV ![]()
I'm enjoying Majesty 2.
Yeah I agree, that is a pretty broad spectrum. And you're not specific about new or old games so I could pretty much say anything... so I will...
Turn based strategy: Age of Wonders 1+2 and Shadow Magic (if you can find them), King's Bounty (I know it was mentioned already, but I am having a lot of fun with it, because I miss HOMM games)
RTS: Medieval 2 Total War/Rome Total War (both are great and that is all I feel like listing because they are my favorite RTS games)
Tactical Strategy: The best tactical strategy games are all old, so they could be more difficult to find, never-the-less; Jagged Alliance 2, X-COM games (minus enforcer), Combat Mission 1, 2 and 3 (this could fall under Turn-based... but whatever, there are tactics involved.
And plenty more! So yeah, could you be a bit more specific please, then we can be more accurate.
May I recommend either Trine or Torchlight? Both are recent titles that are smaller scale (eg, they aren't AAA games but they are great) and will last you a good while.
Bara
Ok I'll try to encapsulate all the games I have played, for PC (because the list for consoles, are the same)

Sounds like you like sim type games too. I would suggest either Tropico 3 or Supreme Commander. I've only played the demo for Tropico, but it seems like a lot of fun from what I've played. Supreme Commander is pretty great, although I haven't been able to play online for some reason, which is frustrating.
Ya I have played those, thanks for the suggestions.
I liked Tropico 3
Tropico 2 sucked
Supreme commander 1 was good, seemed like it was a little long running for a RTS game
Supreme commander 2 was better
The Anno series was good as well, but a bit boring after a while,
I did play torchlight but I didn't like it because you went through the same dungeon like diablo 1, and it just is the same stuff over and over, you hit level 35 then you repeat the same crap again for the graveyard part, but I heard they said that they might make it into an MMORPG. don't know how that will work, Haven't brought myself to play Sacraboar yet, another Ogre max game,
Trine - Kinda reminds me of "The lost Vikings" don't know if you ever played that.
I've just played everything I think..... sucks, some of the worse games I've ever played came out in the last few years as well so thats bad.
Actually my favorite games of all time I should just say, might be better. The First group that pop'ed into my head.
UFO : Enemy Unknown
XCOM : TFTD
XCOM : APOCOLYPSE
Ultima 7 : The Black Gate
Front Mission : 3 and 4
Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy 7, 8
Secret of Mana
Chrono Trigger
Master of Orion 2
Syndicate (and Syndicate Wars)
Guess Its Back to Dosboxing my old Apoc Disk
Well since you like rpg as well as strategy and you didn't list DDO, I recommend that MMO. It's currently free to play. The graphics are nice if not particularly special. The strategy part is definitely in how you role with a group. You can solo play but it becomes very tricky as you level up. Most of the strategy involved is about team-play based mechanics. Many quests and dungeons with a decent amount of content. The game is based in the Ebberon campaign world. The dungeons are all instanced so you don't get one group running into or destroying an others experience.
I was playing when it was pay to play and was quite fun. I left because like most of us, I overindulged and spent an inordinate amount of time playing, making characters and leveling and running the same quests over in normal, hard, expert. When I left the level cap was 16 but they have bumped that to 20th now. Wide selection of classes and races to choose from.
One of the few negatives about DDO is the setting. I definitely didn't/don't care for the Eberron setting. I would still be paying(doh) and playing had they used the Greyhawk and/or Forgotten Realm settings. I've seen and played enough MMO's and other games to give it a recommend if you have never played it. The only other big drawback is you need time to play. Some of the dungeons/quests can take quite a while to learn unless your with other experienced players in game.
If your not wanting to try that then Impulse has Total Annhilation for sale. Really fun rts for multiplayer(looks like you might have played that though). Some have said that the King Arthur game thats out is fun. I haven't played that yet but sounds like a good idea at some point.
Is he allowed to say that? or can we stone him to death now?
Let he who is without sin cast the fir- QUICK GET HIM HE DISSED AOW AND TW!!
Agreed...
Onto the catapult with him, launched over a swamp filled with piranha and being used as target practice by skeet shooters ![]()
Despite his shameful comments about AoW and TW, he did mention a few good ones. Alpha Centauri is great, as is the Front Mission games, Syndicate and Company of Heroes.
FYI, there was only 1 Daggerfall which was the second in TES series. The first game was Arena. Daggerfall was good, but horribly, horribly buggy... and too massive. Patches could only fix so much. I guess that is expected when you make one of the largest game worlds ever made using 1996 technology.
Try Homeworld 2. Older game, but still looks pretty good. A 3D space RTS. Lots of fun
I know everyones a fan boy of something, but the I can explain it all.
Age of wonders 1, and 2 (They are just run of the mill RTS games, which is why I said (crappy) you can only enjoy so many RTS games that are exactly the same except with different units.)
Total War, (I really hated the way combat was controlled, and the game took forever, but had no enjoyable part about it, unlike say UFO : Enemy Unknown) it was like playing a board game with yourself, and much like doing anything with yourself just as fun.
Dragon age origins, Where do I being, much like people who actually liked the movie "V for Vendetta" theres a thousand things I can say bad about this game, but I'll limit it to the 3 most Irritating, 1.) The graphics looked like quake 2, if that actually by that I am being nice, because It remind's me of playing Quake 1, its horrible I couldn't bring myself to look at it. 2.) after I say that people are like its all about character development, how so the characters are lame and the acting is terrible, its melodramatic enough for maybe pre-teens to like, but I just couldn't get into it, it was like listening to sum 41, or one of the many other pop-punk emo crap out there, and the characters talked way to much for whatever scene they were in, they stop and talk more then they do in final fantasy, about nothing. 3.) The UI also looked like horrible pixellated crap I could hardly tell half the time when my life was going up and down. I'm serious Dungeon Siege was better.
Daggerfall (another giant sandbox game that had about as much fun as fallout 3, I walk around and kill a few people, steal some crap, and then I wander the world bored until I finally stumble around to getting to the end, its almost as bad as sacred 2's storyline "Once upon a time there was a substance known as T-Energy...... GO!" its annoying, look at fallout 3, Go find your daddy, and pretend you just didn't come out of the world of Ember... GO!" This is what we have come to these days with video games, "Ok lets make Doom 4, but this time, instead of these 9 weapons with alt fire, will remove 2 of them swap them with something else, leave it. As for the story "Sometime after the events of Doom 3.... Go!!!", Its absolutely retarded. Now I don't exactly blame those of you who are younger, and have only had access to crap games in the last 15 years so when they come out with games like Ninja Blade, or Halo, you get all into it like It actually has some quality, But you have to understand, if you've been playing since the days of pong, all the genre's really are the same, First person shooter's have changed like what 4 times in the last 25 years, new guns, vehicle, totally destructible environments, all wrapped in a new graphics candy shell, followed by a storyline that can be called just that, a "line" because it can be summed up in a sentence, "Its WWII for the 37th time, this time Hitler is trying to kill people again and you have to stop him.... Go!" after which 7 mind numbing hours later, and 18 levels of killing various Nazi's and stopping Hitler, your on to your next game, and what is it something new? why yes it is just look at Game spot "Absolutely amazing, A creative spin. and what are they praising... "Hitlers back,.. Again.. This time in an RTS, 18 more levels of fun GO!" I just can't understand why there are so many games that come out that suck so bad, Theres no fun at all theres no challenge.
Daggerfall: The Elder Scrolls 2- It sucks for the same reason.
Well if you guys like these games you'll love star trek online
go play that haha, And I'm not trying to rip you guys up or anything you have a right to like what you want, I just find a lot of games over-rated, like Oblivion that was worse then Dragon Age.. All I am saying is that, I've played a lot of games in the last 25 year's and its sad because there were more games released between 1990 - 2000 that I really liked and still play on and off that were good, then anything released in the last 10, but late 2010, and 2011 might be good years
I did play Homeworld 1 and 2, however I did't like that I just drop shipped my units in and there wasn't enough base building for me.
Ya I'm pretty sure no one will mention anything I have not played
so I guess I'm just SOL till one of the games I've been tracking comes out in the next few months'
Thanks for Trying
Did you just call Age of Wonders a RTS? Have you played it?
Also, it was released in 1999. Granted the sequels were released in the 2000's but that would fall under your time frame of good game. And what makes it run of the mill compared to games developed earlier? I find there to be few games that came out prior to its release that I would claim it to be exactly the same as or very similar too.

Either way he is henceforth barred from voicing any opinions dealing with games or gaming.
I don't normally attack people's qualitative opinions, but comparing Dragon Age to Quake I graphics... that's not right. You clearly haven't played the game. Also, I hate it when people get "drama" confused with "emo". And the UI was absolutely fine. I'm not exactly a Dragon Age fanboy, but if you didn't enjoy something, you didn't enjoy it... it isn't necessary to make baseless criticism to justify your opinions.
I was going to post a list of suggestions, but I don't feel like it anymore. Clearly you need a break from playing computer games.
Aside from the ability to add multiple hotbars, I'm not sure I can find a way to improve the Dragon Age UI.
Drakensang - Google it. it's a rpg in the really old school vein - you don't have to talk to all the characters about their feelings etc. it's based on a popular German pen and paper rpg and the game mechanics are interesting... I believe the story was written by an author who wrote some books in the world of drakensang. I liked it a lot, reminded me of those old dnd games like pools of radiance and curse of the azure bonds. Very combat orientated...
if you're after a micro payment free to play MMO runes of magic is pretty cool. feels a bit like wow to be honest - but i enjoyed it for a few months...
the original Mass effect - i wasn't as fond of the second one.
there is a total conversion mod for Civ 4 which is fantasy magic based - it's called fall from heaven - i haven't tried it to be honest i just downloaded it and was thinking of installing civ 4 to check it out.
Have a good one
I have a feeling he means Age of Empires, not Age of Wonders. If that's true you should look up that game as it's a fantasy turn-based game a little bit like Master of Magic (but quite different).
So you've played lots of things, pretty impressed. You say you like RPG's but you don't have many on your list and basically say they are all bad other than Ultima 7 and some Final Fantasy's. You probably played these but if not you can take a look at them. Can't tell if they are your style or not.
Fallout 1 and 2
Baldur's Gate 1 and 2
Ultima 3-6
Spiderweb games (Exile, Avernum, Geneforge)
Arcanum
Planescape Torment
Vampire Bloodlines (think there's more to the name but that's what I call it)
Gothic 1,2
Witcher
Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2
Some other good/interesting stuff from other genres:
AI War (haven't gotten around to playing myself but here it's interesting)
Blood Bowl
Fantasy General
Panzer General
Fantasy Wars
Kohan series (RTS but different style)
Star Control 2
Thief 1, 2
Deus Ex 1
Some that probably aren't your style as they are big and complicated but can't tell for sure:
Europa Universialis and Heart of Iron series (spelled wrong)
Dominions 3 (older ones are also good but kind of the same with less stuff)
Do not forget Icewind dale 1 2 ( I still play #2) when I need a break of Nwn or have some friends online that are from other countries and are less fortunate than I am and have older computers with older operating systems. Just wait till I tell them about Elemental it sounds like we might even be able to play an 2010 game together now that is true progress ![]()
For me when I want RPG:
NeverWinter Nights 1
Icewind dale 2
If I want Turn base stratagy
Age of Wonders
Civ
If I want new high end graphics and Old school PnP mixed together with deep rich epic story
Dragon Age
If I want my cake and eat it too:
The promise of Elemental War of Magic
Yes well i suppose you're entitled to your opinion... even if it's wrong
But anyway! Has anyone suggested Torchlight? You've got Diablo down as a game you enjoyed and thats meant to be a similar kind of thing (action RPG), made by some of the same people apparantly too, Havent tried it myself though.
I say we string him up for BLASPHEMY!!!!
Dragon Age is quite simply one of the best RPG's EVER MADE!!! Nuf' said.
Agreed, even tho the expansion wasn't that good.
I guess I won't buy more expansions...I am going to wait for DA 2.
..as for the best RPG ever made...imo that is Temple of Elemental Evil [You must install the huge community mod for it, because the retail game had many problems.] It's just brilliant.
