Need Help

I'm having problems in multiplayer, mostly lag. I'm from south america and my internet connection is of 600kbps. Its not very fast, tough I use it for a long time to play online games and for most of them I do not lag. Problem is that the lag I have in Sins is even pushing it as many times I have freezes. Then sometimes it will desync. In the game room, even buttons delay when I try to change them (teams, difficulty etc). Like I said, I did played many online games and there isnt lag and when there is some, it never turns the game unplayable.

I think the way sins is played, there is a lot of potential to make it unlaggy tweaking the way it sends info to the other players. I imagine, it could send just the necessary info instead of each move a ship does, at least when opponents are just the AIs. If that makes sense at all.

This was very unlucky of me having connection issues with sins, I never expected It. Is it a parculary demanding game in terms of connection speed? Is there any change in options that can make it better? Does it depend on the number of players? I did played against just players once and I didnt had lag (or it was very much tolerable). When playing against the AI Im almost always having lag and freeze then sometimes Dced sometimes Dsync but in the first day I played nothing of this happened. There isnt problem going on with my connection. Please someone help me.

When you lag, do you look at the Network screen (F5) and see what it says about your lag?  There is a CPU number and a Ping number.  Is it the Ping that is high or the CPU load that is high?

What is your CPU, RAM, and video card?

I am stuck on a lowly Socket 939 Athlon 4400 overclocked to 2.42 Ghz with just 2 MB of RAM and I can play it online and have decent performance.  I turned the texture quality down and I also control which CPU cores my large programs run on.  I give Sins its own core and set it to high priority (in Windows Task Manager).

When I once checked it, it was staying at 94 but in after a small time playing it can jump to very high pings. If it just stayed arround 100 could be a good and playable ping (thats 1 second delay right) but it doesnt have constancy. I beleave its not my connection because I often minimize it to see whats going on and everything works fine and fast. I check the browser speed and also a site that indicates the current internet speed. I need to try many matchs to get into one that wont laggy me so much or dced/dsync me which is not good because I play for no later reward and it may also ruin that match for others so I'm not really playing multiplayer.

Sorry, my PC is good I play sins all in high and everything is smooth. It is Duo 2.4GH 2GB RAM and my video card ATI HD4850. I beleave this lag is related to some function since I never had this kind of lag. Thanks for replying.

Maybe there's just a certain bad router on the path your connection takes from Brazil to the Ironclad Online server.  Years ago I would use a program called Ping Plotter to look at the pathway between me and FPS servers and I would see that all sorts of crap goes on at certain nodes in the pathway.

BTW, does anyone know the IP address for ICO?  I want to run a Ping Plot on my path to it now, just out of curiousity.
