Resource-limiting mod

Hey thar - Sins veteran + mod noob here. Has anyone made a mod that makes resources finite in this game? One of my pet peeves is that later in the game, the amount of resources coming in is far, far too high. It would certainly add another aspect to the game if the huge spammable fleets were not so spammable.

The simple act of limiting crystal and metal (maybe, say, to 10000 per individual roid) would cause some drastic gameplay changes. I'd say that in a mod like this, neutral extractors (on asteroid belts and such) should have infinite extraction potential, and as such would increase greatly in value. Trade ports and the black market would become OP - so a nerf would be necessary in this mod. Maybe trade could increase proportionally with the resources available, or the black market could cost 1000 per 100 crystal or so (or maybe be based on demand).

Games would play out in a more tactical manner. Players would not be able to send an equally-powered fleet in to a system and stream units in to turn the tide. Micromanaging would be necessary to gain victory, as every ship matters in a game like this.

But yeah - Has anyone made a mod like this?

During a large portion of the original Sins beta, resources were finite and it didn't work well. Games are not very predictable in length, and when resources ran out everything just stopped. At this point, the whole economic system and fleet supply system would need to be redesigned to accomodate finite resources. It's also not possible to do it in a mod, the code base for finite resources is long since gone.

Yeah, it would have to be a pretty drastic mod. Shame about the code not being there, though.

I tried it once in a mod.

The finite resources was actully easy. (Albiet it required an ability with about fifty buffs to work!)

I gave up when I couldn't get some other features to work.
