Host Set "Start Option"

idea revisited

https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/317135

Having done tons for 7DS 2.0 (v1.05) regarding the GalaxyScenarioDef file (7DS 2.0 GSDef is 6x larger than Vanilla GSDef) allowing players to create maps with homeworlds heavily fortified with tactical and civilian structures and "starter" fleets varying in strength -even with the ability to easily add recon/frig/cruiser wings; also being able to populate maps with advent/tec/vasari militias, heavy patrols, powerhouse bases requiring 2-3 capitals and sizeable support, the one aspect of SINS that I would love to see changed lies in the "Start Option".

Currently, you have the standard home start with frig factory and 2 constructors, then the "light start" that is now available.  Is there any way to have a screen that allows you to give all factions x number of scouts, light frigs, ranged frigs, heavy, capital of type Y, labs, trade, "Has Starbase", and other such additions that are currently only possible with scenario templates that are imbedded in the map.

Also, via the link https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/317135 is this possible in any way to set starting research and limits of research?  Sucks to have to grind up research for a long time when you just really want to kick some ass immediately with all research through tier 5 done or put a max limit on research.  This has the potential to be a completely new addition in and of itself -perhaps even in single player games where you unlock tiers depending on the number of maps you have been victorious on.

Personally, It would give something similar to campaign mode to have to beat 8 different "Small" maps to unlock up to tier 4 military, civilian, etc... research or fleet sizes, then 8 different medium to get up to tier 6, and 5-6 different "Huge/Large" maps to get up to tier 8 -make achievements really mean something.

perhaps a question that is best asked in the modding forum and of the makers of 7DS themselves?

This is something on an Engine level since I could make 5 different "Start Templates", but there is no way to select one of them other than by GForge where I could select 1 of X number of "Starts".  Same for unlocking research tiers, setting min/max research and resources.

There is currently no way to start a game with everyone having all of tier 3 research in military, 2 in civ, 1 in cap/2 fleet, and setting maximum levels; it's just so undeveloped.

Nice idea Semaz!  :)  it could really really mix up the gameplay. So much so, i think it would almost feel like a "New" game.  I have been hoping for a "campaign" or at least a way to link maps, so that my fleet could stay intact, however glorious or mangled they might be and go into a new map, sorta in this way building a campaign of my own. But i haven't found a way.

I keep hoping though.  :)

But very nice idea of yours, i like it.
