Stardock, Im not happy

Hi Stardock,

 

Yesterday I went to play online.

Upon opening demigod I clicked on "internet" After 3 minutes i had to alt tab and close demigod due to freezing up. After 3 tries of this i got to login screen, which took many many minutes to log me into the custom game section.

Trying to join, or host a game was also very very slow.

 

This is not the first time this has occured. This has happened around once every 2 weeks.

 

This game is not yet a year old, still well within support period, yet it is old enough now that all the servers, and bugs should be sorted out.

 

Regarding Stats, most players know the stats are not right (desnch exploits etc)

I would be perfectly happy if most of the stats, and the stat tracking was ditched. All we need is a win/loss counter. If this was to make connecting work all the time, and quickly would stardock consider dropping all other stat tracking? Even shut down the web access stats if that's what it takes, to make creating, joining, and playing games WORK fast, and more importantly ALL the time (servers not getting bogged down)

 

Currently the slow downs are killing off players. I think Demigod would be better off with most stats, online tracking ditched for a FASTER game experience.

um there are no servers its p2p -.- it might be your connection.

There are servers! How do want to find a game with servers? Where do you think, are the game result saved? etc. etc.

i personally never had such problems and have never heared about something like that. there is certainly something wrong on your end. have you written to the support?

its p2p, yes, but i dont think that this has something to do with it since he has problems logging in. only the game itself is p2p.

The lobby is all handled by stardock. Once in game we dont get issues. All issues are happening when trying to get a game toghether in lobby.

 

Perhaps you dont experience this issue as you play in a different timeslot?

I am from Australia, timeslot is usually 2 hours from now - till 5 hours from now playtime.

oo7_War knows what he's on about, and i STRONGLY doubt its at his end - and yes the game Lobby iteself IS where connection issues always have been. ( he's also a loyal stardock customer and has gotten alot of people into this game )

@ stardock - Please listen to your community, this game is still un reasonably buggy.

pathing issues and abilities still have their quirks and bugs.

As deos the Lobby itself.

I sincerly hope that the next patch is a big one that is treated with attention to detail and care.

we want stardock coded stuff (LOBBY) *(internet connection establishment) Fixed.

 

If stardock promised better lobby by X date, judging on demigod release scheduals, you could expect 8 months later

Stardock did not develop the lobby. We mostly just provide the authentication, connection creation (those are handed off to the GPG's netcode once made), and the database (with the user accounts/game names/etc). We can't do anything ourselves that can't be done through the server backend or through the reactor library and overlay.

Any word on why 2 times a week or so I cannot login, or all Lobby is slow, like server shut down not working?

I have 5 playable nights, when one of these is ruined by stardock servers not working I want BETTER server service

 

Any plans to scrap useless server stats to improve server performance?

 

Also what is stardock's official support period for demigod? I ask this as EA shut games down after 1 year...

oo7, having read your posts, I suspect there's nothing we will ever do to please you.

The servers work fine. I'm sorry they're not working well enough for you but I'm afraid that there's not much we can do on that front.  The uptime on the servers is well over 99%.

If I am correct (which I very well may not be), GPG has a contract to support Demigod through April, or until 1.3 is released (I hope whichever comes later ;) ).

Stardock will probably continue to keep the hosting-servers up since I really doubt there is that much load on them and it's probably not costing them /that/ much to support 5.2k players, which will likely decrease over time.
