Mod mini-dumps??

OK, so I haven't been able to get any mod with the exception of the Distant Stars mod to run any longer than 15 minutes or so without getting a mini-dump or a runtime error. This only happens, howeer, when I am running SOASE and the Mods in Windows 7 or Wiondows Vista, but NEVER in Windows XP. Could this be an issue with running 64-bit opperating systems, or is there something about Windows 7 / Vista that just causes Mods to crash?? Do any Windows XP useres ever get mini-dumps?? Also people running Vista / 7 feel free to chime in.

Though I dont run Vista/Win7 I do know that the graphics can at times cause problems with the mods and have had some of these issues with Distant Stars as well (though not nearly as bad)

suggest cutting the graphics down to high and see if that works, it usually solves the problem

Well I just installed a new 7950GT 256 mb  DirectX 9 graphics card I got for Christmas so we'll see if that changes anything. I sure hoep so. I love Windows 7 and I'd prefer if I didn't have to switch back to XP. Also the computer had 2 GB of RAM if that mattters.

Not really, the issue is actually in the game code itself and the limits that are imposed. The devs, due to a tight budget and desire to keep the game easy to operate ironically, set very tight limits to the game, and many mods break those limits. As such many of the issues we have that are solved by setting the graphics down is usually pointed at that.

Hopefully they will do something about this with either Diplomacy or maybe make a Sins 2

Wouldn't that suck if all the mods had to be made again to workk with a Sins 2... Well I just turned down the graphics a tad so maybe this will help with the mini-dump.

Not really, we at the Distant Stars are actually looking forward to it

for the joy of doing it,

believe me when I say that Distant Stars was a work of love, and we enjoyed/hated every minute of it

sad I know

Not sad, b/c we have created something that is epic.

true, true though some would think it was sad, but I have enjoyed myself

I don't usually get minidumps (vista) unless I'm using Dev.exe to test some new codes for 7DS, so I don't think we can blame this on vista, much as I would have loved to.

That's true scratch. Most of the minidumps I've had with mods are wierd things with the Battlefleet Gothic Mod (might have to run it through Harpo's updater again), or problems with my coding of entities.
