I got no problem with artistic license. Hell 2/3rds of SoA 2 is artistic license. My major beef with projects that abuse artistic licence. Like STO. Is that they take that artistic license a way too far (way beyond anything SoA 2 is deviating from). When i 1st saw the artwork of STO, and played it. The only thoughts in my mind were "WTF are they thinking?!" Some say SoA 2 ships are butt ugly, but IMO they are Rembrandt's compared to the STO designs. PLUS they totally screwed up the canon designs (yes i can get THAT nerdy). Think about it... A Sovvie with a rollbar bolted on, and they call it a new class of ship. It is the same thing as taking a TMP connie saucer, and bolting on a couple nacelles then calling it a new class of ship. NO thought into the design whatsoever. What purpose does it serve other than to look "pretty" (If you can call STO ships pretty)? What is its function other than to blow up nicely?
The "Noob ship" is atrocious. I would have been happy if they made the noob ship at least a Miranda, or Oberth, but noooo they stuck in IMO the most absurd design i have ever seen in Star Trek. I dont know if it is still there. I havent played STO since pretty much when it first came out. 1 hour of torment, and that was all she wrote for me.
Hopefully ill finish up fixing, and adding Fed models this weekend. Then time to start on the Klinks.
Then I guess you don't like the "new" Enterprise that CBS is making canon. Here is the link if anyone is interested.

Oh joy, an uglier version of the Intrepid...
Oh well, I guess they used up all the awesome designing the Sovereign.
lol wow... I don't know what to say... I mean really...
Ah, Odyssey-class, well I wonder where they got that name from? Oh wait, I know, the Galaxy-class USS Odyssey destroyed by the Dominion shortly before the Dominion War broke out.
Looks like an up-scaled Nova class.
Looks like a sovereign, intrepid and nova had a baby together, but the mother had drank and smoked her way through pregnancy.
I like it ._. I currently play STO, and I played it when it first came out. It's nothing like what it used to be. The first ship you get -is- a miranda. They really listen to what players want and put it in. So much has been fixed and improved upon.
Hi,
Can i add the Fleet Mini Mod from the Entrenchment Release to the newest Soa 2 1.31?
You are right. I dont like it. TBH at least a "little" thought was put into it.
However, the posters above hit the nail right on the head. it suffers from pretty much every fan design that was ever made. Instead of thinking of something new, and radically original. They bashed together elements from existing ship designs. I see sovvie, intrepid, nova, and galaxy in it. The secondary hull is too long, and too big. It is a clumsy mess. The Saucer actually looks good, but its proportion doesnt fit with the rest of the ship. The glowing lower sensor is a nice nod to TOS. Nacelles, and struts are just rinse n repeat of the sovvie. The models overall shape just doesnt appeal to me. Nice ship of the week, but i wouldnt call it "enterprise".
How is CBS making this "canon" if this was just a STO contest winner? I certainly hope this design gets drastically altered if this is the new post TNG Big-E
Not sure about fleet mod for dip. never tried it myself. AFAIK it works, but i dont know of any issues. Try it and see.
I tried it awhile ago and minidumped almost constantly
KK Thanks Doshka. Ill update the file on ModDB and here to read Fleet Supply mod is for Entrenchment only.
Danube Runabout is in game. ALL ships now have Nav Light blinkers.

This is quite possibly one of the best mods out for sins. I applaud your team's devotion. Being a trek fan and a video editor, i know how much tedious work has been put into this (working in 3DS and model making take up farr mor hours than editing a 10+min video). I was wondering though, how about the Ferengi being the pirates? In the show they were more like peaceful traders but with the Borg being too rape-face as pirates, Ferengi make the next best choice since they will do anything for some currency.
Also, are there any plans on adding Species 8472? (in either diplo or rebellion when it comes out).
I know that Stress has mentioned many times that the mod is a TNG only pretty much but I know there have also been a few exceptions, and species 8472 were, in my opinion, one of the only good things voyager did. I loved the unique idea of the bioships and if you could implement them as "ships of the week" like you'd talked about then that would be awesome.
The Breen have bioships...
The Ferrengi Marauder is already in as a Planetary Defender (The Ships of the Week Faction). Soon some Maquis, Sona, and Talarian will join the Ferrengi as Planetary Defenders. There is only ONE canon ship for Ferrengi (2 if you count the shuttle). We can not make a whole faction from just one ship, and NO we will NOT use Armada, or Armada 2 ships. The pirates will be Orion as we planned from day one. We already have models for everything i just mentioned. We only need to get them in game.
No 8472. Hirogen, Vidian, Krenem, Talaxian, Kazon, or ANY other Delta Quadrant faction. Except for The Borg. Who have regained transwarp travel. No exceptions! IMO there is NOTHING good that Voyager did. Except open our eyes to how the Killer B's were ruining Trek. Sorry to disappoint the Voyager Worshipers, but I wont go into this again. This mod is popular for a reason. We intend to keep it that way. The factions, and ship lineups are set in stone. Read back a few dozen pages for a more detailed explanation as to why we keep as much of Voyager out of this mod as possible. Apologies if it seems like i am coming off as harsh. We have a vision for this project, but adding in the absurd deviates from that vision.
How did the Bord lose transwarp?
Voyager destroyed the Borg Transwarp Hub. Or rather should I say Admiral Janeway came back from the future, gave tech that was like 2 decades ahead of the current time to the Voyager crew and then little down the ways of the final eps she sacrificed herself to the Borg ( she had a nanological virus infecting her so as soon as she was plugged into the Borg hive in a sense she infected the whole hub causing a chain reaction and making it go nova in a sense.
Yes, voyager fan >.> (that's at least what I remember from watching the show) but yes I'm with MS on this one and what he says makes sense. Don't like it tough, go make your own mod or just deal with it you can't have everything in the world
Can someone explain to me how to use cloaks. Like how long do they stay active and what disrupts them. Like a general manual tactics.
Loving the new screenshot, you guys are making this mod even more beautiful - I'm astounded
I'm watching voyager on netflix, on episode 72 right now so im getting there x3
I seem to encounter a minidump that only sometimes happens during the first visible exchange of weapons fire. Keepin' my settings low seems to make it happen less. guess my computer is just bad x3
I dont like getting into debates over which show was "better". The younger generation likes Voyager, and ENT. Probably because they didnt experience the shows that came before first. Though i can see the younger generations point about TOS being "cheesey". What do you expect? It was low budget, and made in the '60's! TOS thru DS-9 was good. Voyager, and ENT almost sank Trek. Absolutely Horrible Writing, and inept direction from the Killer B's are to blame. Though i have to give Manny Coto a lot of credit for almost salvaging ENT. The 4th season was VERY good with the exception of the series finale (written by the Killer B's of course).
We are working on a rough draft for a faction guide on each races ability's, and weakness's. Cloak will last as long as there is antimatter to power it. Usually good for about a few minutes, or so of cloaking. Long enough to warp into a system, and be invisible to target locking until you get set up for your alpha strike.
The enemy will know you are there (Ships will be visible on the empire tree), but the enemy cant lock you, shoot at you, or chase after you until you decloak. Similar to the cloak in Starfleet Command. Which is more than good enough for me. The Feds have some cloak disrupting ability's that could mess you up. The Klingons expect Romulan treachery, but dont care as long as they can get in a good fight. All you will do to the Dominion is piss them off even more when you come in cloaked. The Borg are the best faction to use cloak against. They cant assimilate you if you are cloaked. Unfortunately we cant make the AI use cloaking yet. More hardcoded nonsense.
The Klingons mostly use cloak to escape a very bad situation, or for scouting. Though there are some dishonorable ones that used it for a sneak attack (Chang, Kruge). Honorable Klingons do not believe in hiding during battle. They would rather let you know they are coming, charge in guns blazing, and with bat'leths in hand. Klingons do not "run away" from a fight ether. They retreat only to regroup, and fight another day. Only a few Klingon ships can cloak with reasonable efficiency (the canon ships seen cloaked like the B'rel, K'vort, Vorcha, K'tinga). There is debate if the Negh Var should be able to cloak, or not. IMO it should not, because it is the pride of the empire, and exemplifies everything a Klingon warrior should be. The ship that is big, and bad, makes no secret that its coming, and charges in guns blazing.
Romulans use cloak almost constantly. Their ships are designed from their foundation to use cloak. They are the masters of the sneak attack, espionage, and subterfuge. Therefore the entire Romulan fleet can cloak. Romulans should have much longer cloak times than the Klingons represented by much less antimatter usage (we need to work on this). We are also working on some "sneaky" ability's for them as well. Romulans would rather pit two opposing factions against each other, and watch from a distance. However when forced to fight the Romulans are no pushovers. Their ships are powerful. They will fight to the bitter end, and suicide (Ships need area of effect "glorious death" self destruct ability hint hint) if the situation seems totally hopeless.
Intened ranks amongst the factions in order of ships firepower, and durability. Note all of the non-Borg factions are very close, and will stand toe to toe for a very long time in an all AI test.
1) Borg (SoA 2 bad ass's. As it should be. Need an entire fleet to take down one Borg Cube. Need all four factions to beat them)
2) Federation (All fed ships are somewhat well rounded, and of jack of all trades. Some specialize in anti borg weaponry)
3) Dominion (Equal to, or better than the Feds with some ships (Jem Hadar), but weak in others Like the Cardassian "meat shield" ships. Breen specialize in disabling ships).
4) Romulans (Their advantage IS the ability to cloak. Ships pack a lot of firepower. However big ships like the DDeridex are very expensive, and not easily replaced)
5) Klingons (Most Klingon ships are expendable "attrition" units meant to overwhelm you in easily replaceable numbers. However Elite units pack a lot of firepower, shields, and armor. They are very hard to kill).
We aint done with the artwork yet ![]()
Just restart the mod. The minidump is a known issue. Usually it wont dump again once you restart the mod.
I know there is a lot on you guys plate in terms of things your getting into the mod but just a pure curiosity question, which I know I and others have asked before but I just wanted to get a renewed idea of where this stands. Plans for new planet types? Just what are the plans on new planet types?
I actually find the original even though low budget pretty good, I only say this because my step father and I watch it when I visit with him. He has a way of pointing things out and making you realize even though back then it was a bit hokey, a lot of sci-fi from back then was after all. But thats one of the good things about them, today you don't find that.
to remain on topic or rather thread related. Awesome stuff, I'll have to set some time aside to get a game going with this mod again ![]()
Voyager and ENT to me werent that great.. TOS.. TNG.. and DS9 were quality.
