?? really?? Most of the level gain stuff i see is all zeros
Cooldown and damage increase, as well as culture protection, and we have inconsistent increases across some of the others. The Borg increases in more areas as they're supposed to. I've been procrastinating on normalizing the others, I guess now would be a good time to tell me what to do with em. ![]()
Try a flat rate at 1/2 vanilla sins Kol, and go from there. Even little increases can break the balance. We just left the weapon armor, squad, and mitigation increases at zero. Keep the command points at zero.
My focus on the mod so far has been fixing the existing, and adding some new artwork. Some random beauty shots of SoA 2 0.5D.1 with some of the fixed/new models, and new sky box's. Just because i can.. Go to our ModDB page for more screens. I cant post images directly here. So just click the links.
The Klingons (see if you can find the new ship)
The Borg (Dramatic chipmunk music plays)
The Dominion and Borg are very dark, but we fixed the ship mesh highlight filter issue so they will glow properly when you zoom out.
Hehe, you can code and model but cant post an image in a forum

I will see if I can get them up on the SOA weebly
That is because i dont have an imageshack account. Who said i could code?
greetings:)
i have a little question:)
can you change the romulan ships? some of there ships never seen in any star trek series, and some of the "older" ships very ugly:)))
a good mixed romuan fleetgives in the game starrfleet command, and theres ships really nice, and some are old models too
and by older ships you have forgotten the k tinga class? this was a present from the klingons to the romulans in a short alliance
for the borg its nicewhen the ships have a bit more green iluminated lightspots but this is only a idea and hope for see them ingame:)
New screens of the maquis raider on the moddb page.
Any eta of update?
When ever I finish the artwork for the next update ![]()
Its hard to give an ETA because I've been incredibly busy these past couple of weeks with work/family and I hate giving estimates and not living up to them. These next weeks I should be able to put in a lot more time in though. Just know that an update is coming with some new ships and plenty of bugs fixes / updates.
Sounds good to me!
Just started playing the MOD. Logistics costs for ships VERY High and unless Im just dumb, I can't find carrier cruisers? (at least as Fed) Built the steamrunner class which says carrier but now it launches missiles and sucks.. Im confused. Any Guides out there?
Akira is a Carrier.
I was wondering about that, since the Akira also doubles as a bit of a structure destroyer, thought the steamrunner would be classed as a torpedo cruiser
Oh...Ok. Thanks. Infocard says Heavy Cruiser/Anti Module.
you'll notice is says something about the role for AI, that means its designated as that role so the AI knows how to use it in general, not neccesarily what it is -purely- for.
I am of course, taking a guess. I didn't make the mod.
No. the Akira is not a carrier. Least that is not its intended role in the mod. Despite the fact that it does carry a few squads. The Galaxy fills the role of Carrier better because for one it is the largest ship the federation has. Therefore has the hangar space to carry wings of strike craft. The Fed ships are pretty much "multirole" Jack of all trades type ships. While the Klingons have more specific ships that pack a punch, but are weak, and cheap attrition units. Romulans of course are supposed to be masters of stealth. I just wish we could make the AI use this stealth. Dominion are supposed to be almost equal to the feds in tech, and can do some things that the feds cannot (like jem hadar being able to punch right through shields in some instances, and breen being able to disable ships). The Borg we ALL know what they can do, and that is Assimilate. Then Annihilate You if you let them.
We intend to do a rough guide to what each faction is capable of doing, and what roles the specific ships we intend for them to play. We did put the ships role types in the info cards to give you a rough idea. Though some ships will not fight like the role it was placed in. For example the Steamrunner is in the light carrier slot. However it is not a carrier, and carry's no strike craft at all. We used the roletype, and statcounttype so that the AI will build the ships. Another example is the Defiant. It most certainly is NOT a capital ship. It is however an "Elite" unit. A "Hero" unit. So we placed it where the "Elite Hero" units should go. Which is why we said that Elite Units may, or may not be "true" capital ships in the readme. The Sins AI must see at least one of each vanilla sins roletype in a faction, or else it will build, and expand ether way too slowly, or not build anything at all! This is why we did things the way we did. So that the AI will work right. We cant mod the AI. It is hard coded.
Nobody is certain of what the Akiras true "canon" purpose was. Same could be said for many of the Federation lineup. Some say it is a heavy strike cruiser. Others say it is a carrier (way too small IMO to fit a wing of peregrines). Some say its an explorer like most fed ships. There is nothing "official" that i saw on its purpose. We made it an anti module ship (that can also fight ship to ship).
The Dominion still use vanilla strike craft because we havent gotten to making models for the Dominion strike craft yet. We are too few, and can only do so much with what little free time we have.
Tell me... How many canon Romulan ships have you saw in the entire run of Star Trek? I count FIVE. (The Original BoP, The Romulan D-7 Stormbird, D'Deridex, Valdore, and the Scout/Science vessel) Six if you count the Narada. Seven if you count the ENT BoP. Most of the Non-Canon Romulans DID come from Starfleet Command mods. We use the FASA Romulans, and some Klingons to fill in the gaps. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We went with designs that made more sense functionality wise. Rather than the "coolness" factor. The Romulans didnt use just DDeridex's, and Valdores. We went with "Older" designs to show that the Romulans had a real shortage of ships. So they re-activated old mothballed ships to help re-enforce their fleet. 100+ year old hulls with state of the art weaponry. The only ship i am re-considering is the Black Wind. There was never a canon "Alliance" between the Klingons, and Romulans. Though it is canon that they did exchange some technology.
We are working on the Fleet Logistics issue. I dont like the current state of it myself. I agree the cost is too high for some ships. Some ships do need a high cost to keep from being spammed to death (Defiants, Borg Cubes, Galaxy's), but cannon fodder (Mirandas, Galors, Ktingas) shouldnt take up too much in logistics.
No ETA on update. Much to do.. Not much free time to do it.
Major,
I'm no modder only a player, but couldnt the Romulan stealth, be used like a Envoy ships invunerable ability? They would just be attacking while they receive no damage. Tied to their antimatter on/off? And a see thru mesh while in stealth mode of course.
Cloaked ships don't fire for a reason, minus that bullshit Scimitar in the epic retardation that is Nemesis...
Cloak goes up, shields go down. This has been shown repeatedly, from TOS to as recently as Generations, they knocked the shields offline by triggering their cloaking device in the fight with the Duras sisters. In The Undiscovered Country, Chang got smoked by one torpedo, something a shielded vessel would shrug off effortlessly.
As soon as you fire, even just charge up your weapons, you give off an energy signature, the ship you're firing on detects you, and hammers your ass with your shields down. Game over. One of the more retarded components to Nemesis, you can fire those phasers on a pin head from a thousand kilometers, but you can't hit the enemy ship that's unloading so much weaponry on you it's even visible to the naked eye?
There was a huge power mismatch, but missing with phasers... An endless font of nerd rage.
Always wondered about that myself lol. Apparently we have forgotten how to target via heat signatures. Cloak should be good for nothing more than phase jumping into a system without warning and closing with the target before firing. Once you fire, cloak should be gone in my opinion.
Have you guys considered looking at models for ships that are in Star Trek Online? I know your timeline shifts away from the super nova, but the ships themselves would be the same.
HAving thought this over as I type it, I realize you guys already have klingons and feds done, which is really the only factions to play in STO, so I guess looking at their ships won't help x3
Still, Cardassians and romulans are in there to fight somewhere, so i guess its worth a post
Seriously?! You "like" the STO designs? (30 seconds from a nerd rage about STO) NO! to STO models. Period (would cause a ton of headache from both looking at eye sores, and legal IP issues).
The SoA 2 ship lineups are set in stone with the exception of only 2 ships (one romulan, and one klingon which we have much better replacements for both). Plus strike craft for the rest of the factions. We have designs for them. We just havent had time to build the models yet. Still busy fixing stuff caused by converting from Entrenchment to Diplomacy.
-hides in the corner- ._.
Seriously?! You "like" the STO designs?
imagine this in Leonidas' voice
scary stuff ![]()
I dont have issues with the STO designs... im just not that nerdy treky.. though i love trek.. i consider leway for artistic license...
