Host status, in-lobby

Just an idea for making games easier and not having people leave all the time.  In the game lobby, give the ability to set your status as host of game (away, ready, etc...) and include a countdown timer, such as "will be back in xx:xx".

edit: oh, and if we could please have the connection information screen open by default and to the right of the lobby screen, that would be good.

Agreed re:that.

I don't really encounter this much.  I've played alot of games, but very rarely (maybe 8 out of 900 games) have had a host go AFK in the lobby long enough where people left.  Also, I think a host status of AWAY would just cause people to join and leave your game.  Why host at all and put up a status like that... I'd think anyone seeing that would leave.

I'd rather the connection information screen just remember where I left it and at what size and re-open there the next time I play.

Your probably right about the host having away status, but i think the timer would still be helpful, see below:

For example, i could host a game, set a countdown timer (say 5:00 min) leave and come back.   I have a lot of things i could be doing instead of watching a lobby cscreen try to fill up, and thought maybe others did too.  This way if the room fills up in 3.5 minutes, nobody would leave thinking the host is permanatly afk.

Just trying to reduce time wasted trying to get a demigod game going (we should all know that pain).

OK - I see your point on that one as well, then.  I like the idea, but nothing would guarantee the host would actually launch the game then.  I can see how you game might fill up more and be able to get things going easier, so I do support the idea.  Good thought.
