Need Patch that works

I stopped playing SSE for a while because of a glitch.  All the AIs running amuck and posting up massive resources and ships no less than a few minutes into the game.   I  posted on this before but no solution. Tech support says I need patch to reset some of the AI behavior.

All my troubles started when I installed on a new computer. Played game fine and won plenty of times. But I have not won a game now in almost a year. The game is stuck on attack Human player in mass asap into the game.

WHen I try to install the patch i found which is 1.0- 1.2 patch it says patch failed.  It goes on to say that the patch can not open the source file after it tried to open from a temporary folder which makes no sense at all and is not what I had designated where SSE is located in that screen.

Either need help in solution or a link to get an official patch.

Hi there

how are you updating Sins? You can get the latest patch (1.181) through impulse. You can get impulse if you don't already have it from here www.impulsedriven.com

hope that helps

Disable any third-party security or antivirus programs running while you download.  If that doesn't fix it there's probably something wrong with your internet settings.

Have impulse.  Its where I got the patch 1.1 to 1.2.2 patch version.

Am I going to have to go through the baby steps and install 3 to 5 different patches?  One patch says needs earlier version and that version says need earlier version to install it.  So I took this version of the patch as it claimed to do it all automatically.

When i clicked on run patch,  it did unpack to a temporary folder. Then it gives a patch failed error and says cannot open source file.  I sent an email to Tech support but they have not gotten back to me on this one.  So I came here hoping someone else has already run into this and can offer a solution.

What game are you running, we are on 1.181/1.041 patch versions

Impulse should do any and all patching for you while all you have to do is push the update button

Yeah, you sound pretty confused.  There should be no manual running of patches with impulse, nor should you be able to update the game to intermediate versions, but only the latest.

Uninstall the game, reinstall, and just tell Impulse to update the game.  Done.  Don't mess with standalone patches.  The version numbers you're throwing out make little sense as Ryat pointed out.

What's likely happening is that you're inadvertently trying to downgrade the game through patches, which I'm sure can cause any number of errors.  Just do what Ryat and Mazuo said and let Impulse handle everything for you.  You should never have to "install a patch" anymore.  Just fire up Impulse, see if their's an update (a separate "Update" tab will appear at the top), go to it, select Sins and tell it "Update".

Again, don't worry about patches anymore.  The only ones in existence are at least a year old now, since they predate Impulse.  Their numbers should be between 1.01 and 1.05 (maybe 1.05.3).  Don't use them.

After Impulse downloaded to my computer it asks me to run the patch.  I ran the patch.  As for which version the patch is.... I picked from the list that impulse gave me.

I then looked at it and it says it is version 1.1- 1.2.2.

So I am not trying to do anything. When I selected the option from impulse, it automatically downloaded to my computer. When that download was completed, it asked me if I wanted to run the update now. I clicked on run and I get the error.

This is the only game right now that I have needed to use Impulse to upgrade.  All other of my games have been through Bioware or through other direct means.  I am finding it a pain in the arse.  But then SoSE has been out for a while.  Had I not gotten a brand new computer, I would not have this problem right now either.  Just wanted to patch to fix a AI problem in single player that Tech support says is a rare glitch that happens every so often under certain types of games.

Impulse will only offer up the latest version of the game and that version would be v1.181. It does not give you a choice for any other version.

Just to be clear, make sure you have installed Impulse from here: http://www.impulsedriven.com/impulse_setup_full.exe

Sign in with the same account you have signed in here with to make these posts. Click the 'Updates' tab at the top to download the update.
