chaining planets

Ok what i am talking aobut is having 2 planets gravity wells, touching eachother, where there would be no need for phase lanes.

and ships could travel/fight in both gravity wells, 2 starbases. etc etc..

However atm even when i get planets that close, ships have to jump to see /engage enemies that are right next  to them ( i mean litterally right next to them) in the other planets gravity well.

 

is there any way around this, by modding, or is that way to big of a alteration.

You can change the number of starbases you can have in a gravitywell, but you can't actually have two different planets in the same well, no matter how close you make them. You could make it look like it in theory if you created mesh and texture files for two planets close together, but that would be difficult and if you colonized/bombed one you would also gain/lose the other.

Goa, that would be cool if you could make it look like 2 planets. It could be set as a rare type of terran planet, but with alot more population/tax income/HP/mines etc. etc.

I'd love to see that, but i also realize that it would be tough to make. Good luck to whoever tries it.

well you technically could.... change the mesh so that it shows two planet of course the planet's gav well wouldn't be a long oval but would still remain a circle
