Premade Listing Thread

We need a thread where we can list the usual premade teams that are appearing on Demigod all the time.  If we can identify which players are always in premade teams with each other it will make the game fairer for the rest of us.

Or just use the overlay beta Frogboy posted in the journals.

...the overlay is an important part of the solution to the degradation to the game that premades naturally cause... what is more important is an open and honest understanding of what premades are, their inherent advantages... and most importantly, getting this information to new players before they are dissillusioned and quit...

...a thread listing premades is a startand should be encouraged... the overlay is awesome, but new players do not know to download it and until it is part of an automatic patch, it has very limited utility in maintaining the Demigod community from the deprivations caused within the new player community by unrestricted premade gaming...

...another part of the solution could be the Clan system... have SD-sponsored "new-player" Clan where veteran players can mentor new players on the realities of the Panth (and premades) before they move out to other Clans... I would volunteer my time to mentor new players... informally i already do this... formally doing it within the Clan system would be great!!!

Just ask if they are premade... And if you have the new overlay you can mostly see it. However they might just be friends playing and not premade, that is a big difference.

uh a thread listing the premades sounds like an absolutely horrible idea. It will encourage players to avoid and insult the players on the list when they are trying to have a decent game. Just because a few players play together, does not mean they are at a level of skill to compete with the other more established teams of players. Making this list would just round up all the people who like to play with each other and label them as experts who should only play each other.

While playing against premades is frustrating at times, it is not "naturally caus[ing]" the "degradation" of the game. I think that far more people are enjoying the game as it is, whether they play against or for a premade, than the people who actually take the time to come online and complain about it. The overlay is the correct step to take. New players won't have to know to download it once it moves beyond beta.

And "deprivations" from "unrestricted premade gaming?" This isn't some third world country with a failed government that has deprived its people of the basics of life due to unrestricted spending. Make sure the words you are using fit the context of the situation.

Oh... and... please... use proper... punctuation. I don't want to be an ass, but reading your posts is like being spoken down to by some Harvard douche (think of Good Will Hunting style).

I have a better but similar idea, Ill make a threa aobut it in the muliplayer area. It will be list of premades that only want to pug stomp.

Really those are the only ones that are the issue.  Friends/premades are not inhearantly bad, in fact they are good for the game.... But many of them out there just want pug/noob stomps.

I am a premade team consisting of one member. :P

Premades are not the problem!

In fact that's the way that this game should be played: coordinated teamwork.

What you mean are most probably "PuG stompers", which is quite a difference!

And how will you know the difference?

Premades are not the problem, i play for and against (about 50% in pre and 50% pug)them all the time. Really, the only inherent advantage they have is that they are WILLING to communicate and if you do the same thing with pugers you are sure to eliminate most of this advantage. Sure there are times when you will get a feeder or someone who doesnt listen or participate as a team member, but such is life and thats NOT the premades fault.

Really all it boils down to is you have to make a TEAM strategy and keep the communication up, whether it be pinging the minimap to alert your team to something of importance or letting your team know your buying currency and want someone to pitch in for priests. Its YOUR fault if you lose against a premade because you didnt participate as a team player as much as you should have. That said, the majority of pure PUG games i lose are for the same reasons, lack of co-ordination and team strategy.

Now it should be given that there are a couple of really good premades online *cough pacov cough* (yes i got my arse handed to me lol). however, look up their stats, above rank 500 and i reckon that there is a pretty good chance that they play premade alot and work well as a team. It should also be noted that ALL the good premades i have played against openly declare they are premade. The ones that pug stomp alot, usually not so good and you should have a fair chance of beating them.

I would also like to add in several cases I've played in games where my team and I were simply outplayed by better players - however my team mates then proceeded to call them premade as some kind of justification for their loss, instead of simply saying "Damn, I got beaten" and learnt from it. There is nothing wrong with losing.

Head over here and download the Beta Overlay system as creating a list of premades is a pointless endeavour in a game designed around Teams and that is currently in the process of receiving Team features, in my opinion.

Exxxcentric, I tend to agree with you, but there are problems.  PRemades are voerall not the issue at all, premades are infact good for the game.

BUT, you talk about communication.  I am a pug player, and sometimes, other pugs just wont chat... at all.  So there is no comunication.  Or sometimes they want to do their own thing no matter what, or sometimes they are a new player.

In the end you say that good premades advertise it and was a good fight this is true.  BUT the bad premades that wany to stomp people tend not to.  I have joinded games where they are looking to pug stomp, and I see in the overlay me at 45% win rate and 2 guys with 10 games a a 10% win rate.  MEanwhile the other team has all 80% win rate.

So what do I do wall them out on it... And get kicked.. Some of them dont want a fair fight.  Those are the ones I am talking about.  I know teams cant be perfectly balanced all the time, but to inentionaly try to stack it, thats just sad.

The point is moot once you download the overlay.  Go to the journals forum and follow the instructions and boom, every premade is flushed out into the open.

Here's the link to the overlay thread:  http://forums.demigodthegame.com/366118

If you scroll to the bottom, I wrote up some instructions on how to get them installed.  I also saw (in some other thread) that the official version is expected to go live this week.  So, hopefully that will be the case.

Edit - didn't notice zehdon posting a link already.

Wow, what a novel thread.  Is this really an issue once the overlay gets pushed out to everyone?

Totally Agreed.  If I were in a premade who cared nothing more than just annihilating my competition, then, instead of being a premade, i'd have one of my teammates join the other team and constantly feed us gold.

Why people think people make premades to make the game less fun for other people baffles me.  People make premades so they can play with their friends, or with other people they enjoy playing with.

You are partially right, HONEST premades want to have fun and enjoy playing in a competative game.

But people are not complaining about the honest premades.  Its the dishonest ones whos idea of a good game is stomping pugs/noobs that are ruining the experiance for others.

(although I'm fairly new) I haven't encountered any dishonest premades.  Probably because if I were in a dishonest premade, i would have half my friends join the other team and have them constantly dieing and feeding us gold.  You wouldn't even be able to tell I'm in a premade since you'd think it's your teammates that are horrible.

Is this really an issue like people make it. When I play pug or premade, if I get stomped, I remember who stomped me and either I avoid the games they are in, or challenge myself to beat them. I play mostly with friends and if you look at my average, I am not winning 90% of my games (I am closer to 50%).

What I fear is that when this feature goes live, many people will join my game, see that I played with my friends a lot and will leave, without even considering that our win percentage is 50%. I think that win percentage is a far more useful stat that people look at. Noob only games should be with people under 25% wins and Pros should be over 75%. Everything in between is fair, regardless of premade or not.

general, you are right the % mean more than anything.  I will gladly play with people in the 35%-65% range.

I usually weight it 80% importance for # of games played and 20% importance for win%. I've played lots of games with good players having 100ish games under their belt but a poor <40% win percentage... but I've never played a game where a high win% player with a low number of games played has been experienced enough to be very good. I know there are exceptions, this has just been my experience so far.

There are just too many reasons for a loss to show on your record when you really didn't lose or you lost because of a poor 'team'-mate, especially if you PUG most of your games.

Personally, I only check for premadeness if a person has an extremely high win percentage.  It would be extremely unlikely that I would check your info window if you only have a 50% win rate.

I agree I have no fear of fighting a premade with win % in my range.  Its the 80-90% win rate taht make me not want to play them...

Either they are that good, or they stomp.

and then it happens to you what happend to me. one sees you with high % familarity with another player that you never have played with. yes thx to this feature.

What is wrong when you want to play with friends??? This is a damn team game. If you dont have friends get some ....

We just joined a 3v3 game there is one player who has 1400games and 80% win and his friend 80% win and they play together  50% of their games. We know that they would most likely win against us but its still fun to play against good people.

Result is we get kicked for beeing premade... even tho we have only 12% played together and the best person has 70% win
This is ridiculous, they stack teams only to win, which shows their high win rate... which is asshole like.

This attitude is destroying the game. This is a damn team game, and here teams get punished...
Get over it, good players can play together without ts with no problems... Not playing because the other players are a team is retarded.

Sometimes when you join a game against random good people and they win against your team, they yell at you because you are so bad and lose against them. Sry but this is no place for friends, who want to play together sometimes....
