People are assholes.

Ok so ive never played DOTA or whateer it is, so I dont know what breed of jerk they have there.  But I most say that for the few months I have been playing this game I now see that it is going to FAIL.  Here is why:

 

The players.  20% seem to be honest to god noob.  Thats fine, but people are assholes rather than show them the ropes. 

Another 20% are very good.  I would say they tend to the kindest of the players but they have an elitist attitude and wont play with peopl who have under a 99% win rate. 

And lastly the other 80% of players (yes this = more than 100 because of overlap).  They must really think they are gods.  Seriously they are assholes.  You accidently die once, and immediatly you suck and are horrible.  nevermind the fact that they are no better than you and have died just like you did many time before and will do so many times in the future.  But no people freak out and say the game is over for your noobness.... Seriously its a game... It was one slip up, not 10.  Make a note, and dont be an ass.

Oh and that same 80%... leanrn to COCNEDE you asshole.  of were down 15 kills to 0, I dont care if the warscore is even.. Its a waste of time.  Oh and actually help with the basic cit upgrades if you thought we had a chance.

Well, DoTA has lasted for like 5 years and Halo 3 is still going strong so I doubt a bad community will kill a game.

You know I'm fine with people getting upset if I die.  I shouldn't.  I do sometimes but they can complain about that.  I messed up.  BUT I had a guy the other day telling me where to go, what abilities to use, complaining when I didn't do things his way.  He got mad because I didn't pick a certain skill or the favor item he thought was best.  I guess I didn't realize I was just a BOT.  Turns out he wasn't even that great and we won despite my obvious stupidity. :thumbsup:

Weird.. I guess I didn't know you could pick certain skills and favor items for BOTs.

While you might complain tho.. some skills are completely useless, as are some favors.  i.e. yetis for sedna, beastial wrath for ub, morale for any general.  Others are "you're stupid if you didnt get this" i.e. foul grasp for ub, rank 1 towers for rook, heal for sedna, snipe or mines for reg, batswarm for erabus, shield for oak.

 

To me tho it seems you are taking it out of context.  People complain bitterly that premades use voice chat and pugs barely even type in the chat box.  Yet.. the main thing I do when I'm on voice chat is say "snipe / heal / shield / tele" and I expect it to be done.  If they didn't say they were oom for something I might need, I expect them to mention oom if I call out for something.  Ideally beforehand.  It's just simple communication, and if you fail to communicate, that's a good reason for them to get upset.

I actually have found this community to be relatively mild.  Have you played many other competitive online games?  I've found that apology when I make a dumb mistake goes very far.  Personally, I play almost exclusively in PUG's, and generally assume that I'll have to carry my team; not out of condescension, but because it prevents me from getting annoyed at the performance of other players.

I've found people to be generally respectful, although you get the occasional rager.

The DoTA community, however, makes me want to kill.  They are just about as caustic as a community can be.

Announcing you are not healing as sedna and raging when your partners tell you that isnt a good idea sure made me realise what your attitude is in the game.

Furthermore, raging about others skills while your's is lacking is just humorous. I lol'd at your ragequit tho. Ow and going toe to toe vs multiple opponents just sealed the deal for me, I'll avoid you in the future.

I never said that this community is worse, I said I dont know how bad DOTA is, but that many say it is bad... I was trying to avoid comments like: "you think this is bad, try DOTA"

Yes I have played other games competativly, so I get it, I really do.  But its hard to find a game as it is right now, and people seem quick to condem rather than offer advice.  That is why I think the game is going downhill.  I think that in game stats will help alot toward that end, as it will allow teams premade or not, to be more ballanced. 

Have I been an asshole to others in this game out of frustration, YES.  Am I wrong for being an asshole in that instance, YES.  I dont deny that I have my faults, but on the whole I am not an ass (like most people probably), but that is what sticks in poeples minds, and as a result needs to be put in check.  It would be different if there were more players, but as it stands...

Oh and I am by no means a great player.  I have a 42% win rate,  I dont have one build I do every game, I like to change it up and try different builds.  Sometimes they suck.  I am a public player, and honestly I dont care aobut my stats.  I just want to have a fun game.

We offered advise, maybe not in the most friendliest way but you blow it out of the water and started an aggressive campaign towards me just because I offered it. You than died and went further with the remarks considering my skills.

If you burn ppl that are pointing things out, be it friendly or not, you will not receive alot of help in the future as ppl will stop caring to show certain things.
