If units had in-game portraits...

...What do you think they would be?

The only one I can say with any certainty would be for the Marza's CO.  For some reason, I picture a bearded man, maybe w/an eyepatch, and a lit cigar hanging out the side of his mouth.  Maybe slightly overweight, too (210 pounds or so, give or take a few pounds).

How about the rest of you guys?

I have no idea what the portraits would be, but the description for the Marza that you gave is FUNNY.

so basically the older riker, but with a cigar? i can buy that.

i always imagined the sins portrait of the TEC guy with the red hat as the quintessential admiral.

So, basically the Marza CO is an average Starcraft character?

I think my avatar would be the portrait of the Radiance.

I've always imagined the Sova Carrier captain to be a young (mid 20s, early 30s), lean fellow who actually looks like a professional officer. And the Marza as a really short guy. XD

Riker?  Who?

I like Salmon's idea for the Sova - he kinda sounds like he's still a fresh recruit, in a way.

The Hoshi would probably look like a scientist at some console (for a good idea, take a look at the cockpit of SC2's Raven) - he sounds just a little too enthusiastic about his robots, if you ask me.

I think...I'd rather not have in-game portraits for ships.

seriously? star trek? picard's XO?

edit: stupid emoticons! thats not supposed to be there. it should read executive officer

He's the guy in Star Trek: The Next Generation who Grew The Beard.

I've actually thought the Sova sounded a lot more calm and mature compared to the other TEC Capital captains (Excluding Kol). Of course, the Kol's voice sounds very mature about war, being that all Kols are staffed by TEC's veterans, but I've felt the Sova sounds also very professional, if just young and calm.

Though with the TEC Capital ships, I think their voices might be indication of the ships' former purposes. As the Kol and Sova are both essentially military-minded, their captains sound a lot more professional and military-minded. The Akkan was a passenger ship, with its captain sounding like Chuck Yeager outside of combat, the Dunov was a cargo freighter, and aren't all cargo people nerds? ;) And the Marza was used to clear out space junk and asteroids, so you'd expect the captain to enjoy destruction quite a bit.

The Hoshi is definately a mad scientist in short shorts. XD

Oh.  Well, I've never been much of a Trekkie, so I wasn't aware.  ^_^'

Anyway...

I have a hard time thinking up what any Vasari or Advent Portraits would be - though the Enforcer would probably be a Vasari w/a severely cut-up face, since he sounds like he's seen his fair share of fistfights.

The Cielo probably would also have a portrait along the same lines as the Sova and Kol, since they are staffed entirely with experienced officers.

i actually havent played the game in about a week. i would need to go play it to get a good idea

It's probably easier to think up TEC portraits than it is to think of Vasari, or even Advent.

i would lol everytime to see different Girl Scouts with glowing eyes as the portraits of the Advent...

Samurye.

The real ship difficult to think of is the Vulkoras. He's so... different, from any other voice. I'm not sure if the captain even IS a Vasari! XD

+1 He sounds like a Klingon from Star Trek.

Lol I think the Kol would be a klingon (to be honest, all of the capital battle ships should be a klingon)

I probably could see picard as the captain of the most rounded ship (mazra)

Sorry about the Trekkie reference, but I am a trekkie at heart

very nice idea! i would love to have this one. maybe they could consider this. :D

oh then my avatar would be the vasari migrator. For sure. If not then i quit sins of a solar empire

I actually just thought of another unit portrait, this time for the Advent.

Y'know the default Advent Portrait (the one with the Diamond insignia)?  I've always pictured her as the commanding officer of the Radiance Battleship.

So the Romulans didn't destroy those 47 Klingon vessels! It was the Vasari! :p

And it's settled. The Vulkoras Desolater's captain isn't Vasari, but actually an alcoholic Klingon. ^_^

Meh... i see the Cielo guy as some rich guy's son that started millitary acadamy waaaay late, and managed to get through the ranks a bit too fast and it went to his head.

I just hate it when he complains "this is a soldiers job"

I really like his "Engineering: make ready for phase jump" though.

The hoshiko guy... it sounds like he make frankenstien or something... i dont know... sounds a bit not to right in the head or something... I dont know how someone like him managed to get in command of a ship. I miight expect him in the robot bays... but...

I hate the light frig voice... cause its so sad when they go pop... :-( he was so young... :-(

I really think ships need to not die so much, when you consider that there are 100+ people on the frigs... I mean its like... in starcraft when the cheapest unit dies... its one marine who... uses stimpacks... in sins... its 120ish bright young guys fresh out of college... I mean... zoom in really close on it... do you see how many decks a cobalt has? ok, maybe not as many as the enterprise... but its a sizeable ship!

and all the ships are just sucidal... they just sit on one place firing their guns untill they die, or get orders to move... they never think "oh shit, shields are down, and there are missles headed for me, I might want to try to save the crew (and the ship) and gtfo."  I want my ship captains be human and get scared every once in a while... or occasionally be brave and try to ram the enemy ship... or something...

I never see any escape pods... "life boats"... I mean, I am preety sure it is us law that every ship have double the lifeboats for the number of people on board... why would that not carry over for space ships in sins? I mean... "abandon ship" should be something that happens...

I dont know... Ignore me. its just so sad watching the ships just go pop.

I dunno - the Cielo sounds like he DEFINITELY knows what he's doing - in my opinion, you can tell by the certainty in his voice.  Probably late 30s, early-mid 40s, one of those brimmed hats (like the TEC Officer at the top has), about average weight (180-ish pounds, give or take a few), and a clean-shaven face.

As for the Hoshi, that's pretty much what we agreed upon - he seems to be the TEC's equivalent of a Mad Scientist. :P

Hmm...maybe the Advent w/the Tiara thing would be the Progenitor's CO - she looks about right for it...
