ship size

hi guys I've been modeling some new ships and when I put them in the game they're really tiny.  I resized them to 100 in XSI Mod tools, and it didn't even change the size of them.  What should be the size?  When the ship is at 100 you can't see the field that the ship is sitting in (in Mod Tools).  I want to get them to the right size so I can start texturing them.

Ok, I've resized it multiple times, but when I convert it to mesh it stays the same size, the BoundingRadius is always 2.2. it never changes.

you need a computer modelling program for that, even if you edit the bouncing boxes, you didn't modify the points of the ships which is needed to alter the ship size

I use XSI Mod Tool to edit the size of my ship (and create it).  Not sure what you are saying.

I've had that problem before. I usually just get my bro with 3ds max to resize it, for some reason that usually fixes it.

try using the Mesh Resize tool. Get it on http://sins.imperial.cc under the modding forums section. Alternately, D/L Wings3D and use that to resize it.

Thanks Whiskey144,

That's actually what I've been doing, after finishing up the model I check it and then use a mesh resizer to make it the size I want.  I have a few ships that are a bit to big, but I don't care it's just for me.

Hey Whiskey144, I had exactly the same problem as you with my ships. I wish they had explained it in the guide about how to know if your ships were the right size for the game. I thought the the plane would be a good indicator, but not so. Initially I was rescaling and saving before exporting. Anyway I got around the problem of resizing in XSI by Freezing all transforms once the ship is resized. I read somewhere that unless you do this after resizing the model the model will still be exported with the original point co-ordinates, hence no change in size. Freezing Transforms erases the history of the original co-ordinates and starts with what the model has been resized to as default.

All the best!

hmm, interesting, have to remember that when I finally try to make something original in XSI Mod Tool. Until then, the Resize Tool, hehehehe.
