Server stats gone?

Server stats are suddenly gone?

http://www.demigodthegame.com/errors/PageNotFound.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/opengames.aspx

I used to use this for finding if any active games were hosted prior to loading the game  - any idea why it's suddenly gone?

Because it was only referring to one of 6 NAT servers, so the data wasn't accurate. It was used during beta and people were drawing incorrect conclusions form it (namely that the game is unpopular)

One of the locked threads from yesterday has a post from Forgboy saying this.

Use impulse to tell you where games are hosted you can even filter and much pretiter to look at
It's no quick way though. You have to load Impulse for that first.

I browsed the forums whilst there were no aus custom games running, and had opengames.aspx open in a tab.

It made it much easier to join an aus game when it updated every minute, not much bandwidth required either.

May i suggest, if it isnt too hard, to have the open custom games list somehow displayed on this demigod forum?

two birds with one stone?

As already mentioned, the page only showed the games of one server. This was not a reliable way to look for an aus game ;).

But it would be cool if they implemented that page again with the data of all 6 servers.

It may just be they are updating the whole page to be more in line with the other cool looking pages for the 1.1 patch.

Considering that people were using the incomplete stats as ammo for "OMG GAME IS DEAD!" posts, I wouldn't expect to see it coming back. It was only ever meant to be used for debugging and as a temporary solution in the beta when games weren't getting delisted after they started.

So we can't expect a list based off all of the servers instead of the old one?

It was pretty useful.

That's too bad, I love having stats like this one for Supreme Commander: http://supcomdb.com/stats/ :)

I had demigod open at the same time, on the custom game screen.

There was never a custom aus/nz game lsited that wasn't on that site.

Maybe it was the asia pacific server.

But the most useful thing was definately the starting country prefix. Knowing that a simple "3v3 no noobs" titled game was actually australian cause it was listed as (au)3v3 no noobs, without havng to load up impulse and use their system.

Could ingame custom games be fitted with a country prefix?

+1 for seeing a similar list based on all the servers. It was cool to see a visual/numerical representation of the community at the time.

The open games from that page is correct but the # of players online was not.

Loading impulse doesn't take long plus you can directly join a game saving time.

Yeah that is a shame it was taken due to that. Hell i actually used it in a post the other day as ammo showing demigod ISNT dead!

I used to browse forums while flickering a glance at it and if i saw AUS games hosted i'd usually jump on in.

From time to time i've actually hosted a game, alt-tabbed, started browing and checked that page to see if MY game was filling up. Found it extremely useful and really miss it now it's gone.

Well, we will get it back, as Frogboy's recent journal entry is saying :).

Nice, I liked the stats page, it was nice to have it in a tab in my browser and to look for interesting games. I also use my browser to chat, it was so useful.
