Layered quoting

Layered quotation (Quoting posts with quotes within them) doesn't work. Sometime the quoted person's name is not even in the post. Check this post's 2nd page reply #28:

I certainly didn't say that. But the quotation tag were wrongly put on the the poster didn't correct it.

I'm pretty sure it's been like this for ages. If you want to do multi-layered quotes you can but you can't use the [ quote who="Sly_Squash" reply="25" id="2272238" ] syntax. For embedded quotes to work use the simple quote tags. For example the following is a typical conversation on the DemiGod forum.

You suck.
No I don't. You suck.

This is accomplished with the following line.

[ quote ][ quote ]You suck.[ /quote ]No I don't. You suck.[ /quote ]

Note that I paraphrase the discussion to some extent. ;)

They should fix this because this is the first time I've seen a  BBS that does not handle this properly.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't fix this. I'm just saying that it's not a problem with *all* multi-layered quotes only a problem with multi-layered quotes that reference the specific reply and that there is a way around the problem in the meantime.

I agree that this should be fixed I was simply adding detail to the report. Also while we're on the subject of quotes that reference a specific reply could the reply number get fixed as well. In the same reply that is referenced in the OP the quote indicates reply #2 when in fact reply #27 was the quoted reply. Apparently the referenced reply number is the reply number *within the current page only*.

This could be doubly confusing if read on a different site (such as reading the thread from a blog site) that breaks threads into pages of a different number of replies.

Finally I was also making an unsubtle joke about the somewhat childish nature of some DemiGod discussions.
