Simple mod request, as i apear to be stupid.

I have tried everything i can think of but each time i modify something in the starbase files i get a error and the game crashes. The mod im trying to do is simple, I would like starbases to be allowed to build all add ons. This is only for my personal use, i think the game will be more fun given that defense and attack will end up harder with the addition of bases. If anyone can help me id apreciate it. if not, thank you for your time

there is a line in the starbase entity's with 'maxUpgradeLevelCount 8' just change the 8 to what ever number you want

If your trying to research all of the upgrades and can't because of the 8 upgrade limit (I think it's 8) on star bases, here is the line you need to edit to allow more or all the upgrades to be researched:

(StarBaseTech.entity file)

statCountType "StarBase"
maxUpgradeLevelCount 16
UpgradeTypeCount 8

As you can see I have my maxupgradelevelcount doubled to 16, hope this was what you were asking and it helps!.

well then ive found the right line but everytime i try to mod these files i end up with a crash of the game.

personally I have upgraded the limits of my starbases to 22 upgrades out of 26 6 weapons,6 armour and 6 hangers where the original was 3 weapons, 3 armour 3 hangars and no porblems,  but I did make my own mod for the files

All that im hoping to do is just to have all the upgrades available to me. like its 3 weapons, 3 armor, etc. but as i said each time i edit that line maxUpgradeLevelCount and replace the file (after converting it with the program first of course) the game just crashes :( Do you think it could be a vista thing?

really, I modded my tech starbase, and I found that 17 is the magic number to get all of the upgrades.

I just tried again :( and it crashed again creating another dmp file.... i dont supose someone could do this for all races and upload the files somewhere :( i have no idea what im doing wrong X(

Also im using this command in dos. Mayby im doing something wrong with this. im usising it for all 3 of the starbase files after i modify them, ConvertData_Entrenchment.exe entity starbasepsi.entity starbasepsi.entity

Another thing i noticed is the other starbases asside from tech have a entry of 9 in upgradecount. as apoosed to 8. but they check against he reffrence files

unicorn you have forgotten the txt/bin switch on the end of the dos command.

I could upload my megastarbase mod but I have altered a few other items as well including a doubling the caps count and doubling ship points added an antiship effect to the tec cannon increased the stikecraft on the caps and carriers increased the mine detection range fixed the meteor strike l2 prob added the alternate player pics  changed the cobalt sound back to vanilla & removed the starsystem haze, in my personal mod but I have not contacted the authors of the player pics & starsytem haze fix, all in entrenchment 1.02, so I should not upload it for anybody to download

The program actualy defaults to bin

C:\ConvertData>ConvertData_Entrenchment.exe
Usage: convertdata type src dest [format]
        -type can be mesh, particle, brushes, entity
        -format can be txt, bin. defaults to bin

So i dont think thats it, and i dont want to get you in trouble harpo.

The numbers are different for each of the starbases.

 

Tec 17

Vasari 19 (Phase)

Advent 20 (Psi)

If you use those numbers on the standard bases then you can put all the available upgrades into each one.

For myself, after trying to get the files to work with another Mod (Mad Scientists) and failing, I simply looked and found the base files in his mod and modded them to have the numbers I wanted.
