Did anyone just see the press conference. They blew the other systems out of the water with a new motion capture device. Full body capture, facial recognition, voice recognition. it looks amazing. the Wii has nothing on it.
OH sweet, now they have a real advantage because they're just like the competition!

I think the point was it is better then the Wii's equivalent. (And who buys a PS3 now?)

Pfft. The motion peripheral, as it was not created as a main component of the system, will never be used for anything but silly gimmick games. In other words, it's just like the Wii's. And no, just because they can build a successful gaming system does not mean Microsoft is awesome. Windows XP = awesome, 360 = not.
well they have come up with or improved a lot of shit over the years, not even measuring financial success. Really wouldn't call them a massive failure:/

They are one of the most successful companies in the world. Their CEO is one of the richest men in the world.
I mean... it's cool to hate them and all. But they are on the top for a reason.
Consoles suck in the first place and although this may sound "cool" at first, guarenteed it will have its fair share of bugs and won't be as good as people will make it out to be.
I only wish that consoles die out and the PC takes over. Less crappy ports, no more of this "download content" crapola (it's either a patch or an expansion, and patches are free and expansions add alot and cost money, not you pay-for-both-but-we-call-it-download-content) and PCs can just do more in general and they look better. Those are the facts
Plus the average infection time for their OSes is 15 minutes. Too bad MACs suck worse (not their OS but the lack of gaming + custimization, and if more people used MACs, more viruses would be developed for them). And don't try to convert me to Linux...
Every piece of software has its share of bugs. Especially complicated software like the OS (and no, don't point to Macs since they run on preset hardware).
I'm sort of angry at apple right now anyways... stupid Ipod apps. Either they publish it or you don't get it (or you jailbreak / potentially break your ipod)
Macs are fail. If you're going to complain that Microsoft doesn't cut it for you, use Linux.
Macs use MAC OS X which is Unix based... same as linux

Its annoying how if someone says "OH BLAH BLAH SUCKS" and someone just happens to disagree ... then "zomgz he is a fanboi!".
I wouldn't say microsoft is that fail ... they are pretty darn fail when it came to Vista but ive heard nothing but good from Windows 7. Vista was there "flop" so doesn't mean they are total fail.
Oh and call me a fanboy i don't care. I haven't paid for a Microsoft OS since 95 so .. i guess that shows how fanboi i am aren't i? (Im running 64-bit vista ultimate atm waiting for windows 7 to offically release)
I think maslow made a mistake when he built his pyramid. after the very elementary necessities, there should be a new item next to existing ones: enemies and hate object. really, life would be boring without them.
so, do I like ms. not really. but a) there is worse and 
they are showing a nice effort to do better. but will I get an xb 360 because of the camera gimmicks? let's see what software they come up with. it's a good idea and if it works right better still than motion plus, but without games that go beyond casual triviality, even the best hardware won't convince me.
lastly, if ms did well on the conference: fine, the better. makes sure the competition also keeps up their efforts.
That OS is not as smooth as Ubuntu.

Anyways the new system is better than the wii in every way as it is full motion tracking using a camera of some type. It also hase facial recognition (it can even tell your emotion) and its has voice recognition.
It will not be used widely in games, as it isn't a major part of the system. It's like building software around a headset, very situational.
But potentionally a huge market. I think MS had a good look at the Wii's succes and went from there. Wii Fit is one of the best selling games still. MS wants in and has the resources to make great technology for it. Bash the 360 all you want but they made a top end console selling very well, and they are only in the market for what.. 6 years? It took sony 16.. Combine good technology with popular products and you have instant win. Now it all lies on the games being made for it. They will be crap at first, because all devvers are new to the hardware. But that's the same for every peace of hardware. The first thing you make for it sucks donkeyballs, the next thing is pretty cool, and the next thing is totally awesome.
