The connection minigame

Has anyone figured out the optimal time to click "Cancel"?  If I wait for a long time, sometimes I win, but usually I lose (I get the 2v1 "semitrailer to the face" ending).  If I click "Cancel" too soon, though (say, as soon as the one inevitable person can't connect to me), I lose (I get the "no game for you SUCKER" ending).  The second ending is not as bad as the first one, but I really want to win!

 

It occurs to me that this is really just a variant of the classic game "chicken", so what I really need to know is how long everyone ELSE is waiting to click "Cancel" and then click it just before them.  As long as I don't tell them how long I'm going to wait, everything will be fine!!!! :-D

if you're in the queue for pantheon and 4 players connect but 1 drops IMMEDIATELY after the 4th connection is made it will still automatically launch the Pantheon match as a 2v1. sometimes its 2v1+bot and sometimes the poor sap doesn't even get a bot. 

 

Panth is still broken and not nearly as good of a play experience as the Custom Games are. Please fix.

Sorry, just having some fun with the situation.  Transitive explained it well -- I hope Stardock/GPG can fix it soon.  (the right thing to do is to wait until a new player can be swapped in for the one who dropped / was ejected / couldn't connect, instead of starting a 2v1)
