Demigod Multiplayer is Gold

Wow,

I just popped out of a custom game from Oz and it was fantastic. The game is so much better with people. Its was 3v3 and took about 2 minutes to get running and had no issues. Regulus is my homeboy :) Once the teething problems are over this game is going to be great fun, especially with a large community and good developer support.

Great work guys,

and the timing is great for the european release! I am still waiting for the skill clic bug and the favor and the game will be really enjoyable.

Thanks guys.

I wouldn't say it's quite gold yet.

Here's how I would describe it:

People who can play any other normal RTS at this point should be able to play Demigod in custom games just fine.

But here are the places we still have to work it:

  • People with ISPs that do...strange things.
  • Improving the logic in having the game switch to a proxy server.
  • Strange timing issues in joining.
  • Pantheon and skirmish robustness in joining (we need the Demigod update from GPG for this)
  • Multiplayer robustness - 1 person quitting can cause eveyrone to get kicked (fixed in v1.01 but not publicly available yet).
So I'd say at this point, Demigod is probably where it should have been for release but NOT where it should be a month after release.
And before someone flames me for trolling, I'm the CEO of Stardock. I'm NOT bashing Demigod. I love the game. I'm just trying to make sure people don't think we think we're done.

whaoo, it is rare to see such honnesty coming from a dev or a publisher. Some bugs present in the games are hard to excuse (like when you are unable to cast a spell) and some little features really should have been in the release version(self-cast, counters on your minions icons). But appart from that (and the connectivity mess, but it was hard to predict that it would be such a disaster) the game is a real gem.

I just hope that the remaining problems will be fixed soonish and the 2 new demigods added at the same time. Anyway congratulation for that great game, i am so bored to see clones coming one after the other, it is really great to see a game that dares to take some risks.

I would hardly call it gold. I've only been able to get 1 working game going today so far. Now this might be because i prefer 4v4 and 5v5 games, but between the lobby crashing, people not connecting, disconnects, and game freezing, it's still a massive chore. I just had a game where the entire thing froze except for chat. We were all just sitting there talking and going wtf. Ended up having to quit after about 5 mins of sitting there hoping it would go again.

I love/hate this game at the same time :(

Those are exactly the problems i have with Demigod. Custom games work fine.

Thank you for still working on it. I knew there was a reason i am a SD fanboy. :inlove:
