May 14th update causing new connection issues

Before this update everything was good, now I can't play online...

Okay, this time you screwed up big time... I was playing Demigod online one hour ago, and everything was going perfectly well, I could rejoin lobby, had 100ms ping, and could finally play a game without any lag.

But since the "May 14th update" a few minutes ago, I can't play online anymore... I can't even rejoin a lobby in Custome Game mode ! When I look at the "connection info" window, everyone is named "PlayerName" and I can't connect to them. Once I could go into the lobby, but with some people I had 3000-4000 ping, and with others I couldn't connect (0 ping).

So, when I see in the patch note "Demigod - May 14th update : Additional connectivity optimizations and improvements ", WTF did you do ???

Please, I'm willing to give you any info you need, but fix this ! It's obviously something you changed in the last patch, and it totally screwed up my ability to play online...

Even worse, when I "cancel" the connection to a lobby (after a 5-10min wait) and return to windows, my internet connection doesn't work anymore and I'm forced to reboot my modem/router !

My ports are opened, and my router is okay : I was playing perfectly fine with 100ms ping before the patch !

I know you work hard to improve your game, but please understand how terribly frustrating this can be : everything was finally working perfectly, then I have to install this fucking patch and now I can't play online anymore... Please halp !

Well, I can at least confirm the router reboot problem, as I'm having the same. Something will go wrong in the lobby, causing my (E-Tech) router to stop responding until I hard-reset it. I've never seen this before in any application, and I'm actually quite curious to know how Stardock managed to do this. :D

Yea same here, i played demigod a hour ago and then i downloaded update and cannot connect to anyone. Everyone have just name "PlayerName".

I'm quickly losing faith in them and i'm beginning to question do they actually know what they are doing?

Every patch seems to break it for some and fix for others.

Everyone has a different hardware and software setup, they cant possibly know who they will make it worse or better for. There idea is to help the majority, and they have been over time.

I really hate to call someone out, but no. Just no.

I have a big group of friends (30+) That just bought the game on my recomendation when it first came out. Now most of us live in Colorado, I have a few CA friends and one who plays from Ireland. Yesterday we where able to play multiple games just fine, and having all differant types of internet and computers. Now, 24 hours latter, not one game can be made between ANY of us, I find this to be a huge problem for a lot of people.

Sure they will help the masses in time. But if it ain't broke, why fix it?

if it works for some and not for others then it is broken. Thats why they are trying to fix it.That said i agree somewhat only due to being out a full month . You would think it would be fixed by now.Saying that it has gotten better and it is a great game once you play.

Last update screwed everything
( Germany - Vista64Ulti, No Software/No Hardware Firewall, Problem also exists with an UK friend )

> Custom Game & Pantheon play not possible
> All players have the name "PlayerName" and connecting fails between players

For around 2 days I could play Demigod for the first time with a proper working multiplayer, now the MP is basically dead.

Before the last patch more and more people where creating custom games...now the community is dying again.

The European Sports League is just about to launch a Demigod 3v3 cup - This will go to trash if the MP problems appear all over again. There is few players there anyway, but its a good chance to get some league play kicking off.

If you want that Demigod MP will ever get active - I recommend to seed a testversion to 20 players in several countries to test updates practically in wild life. Inhouse environment testing with developers only leads to such desasters. Or make an beta optional available if you need wildlife mass testing so we can still play multiplayer with the working version A.

But I know that things are sometimes easier said than implemented - However, we would like to play multiplayer. :'(

My stats:
http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/games/player/31497/

ESL:
http://www.esl.eu/de/demigod/

My personal Demigod rating:

On days with working MP: 82%
On days with broken MP: 65%

Demigod is an great game, also for those who are waiting since years for Diablo III.
For around 30 Euros it offers nice hack and slay multiplayer fun in competitive arena maps. Its worthwile to hope for a stable, working multiplayer. :D

It would be awesome if you could revert the last update, the whole dev team working regular shift hours and then present an well tested update to the community in 2 weeks.

It was working fine for most people, now everyone suffers with trying to start multiplayer.

P.S.

# AI

It would be good to also solve the problem that sometimes players drop out before an multiplayer game initially starts and dont get replaced with an AI.

Those seldom 2v1`s against me a really tiring, hehe...but also a great challenge !

You find an overview of those matches in my Demigod stats link above -> Look for the Pantheon played matches with "3" players.

# Character "Rook"

If your on a team and someone is playing the big fat rook the team can give itself a headshot. Hes far too weak. Im always happy when someone in the team playing a Rook drops out and is taken over by an AI. Normally Rook players die so often stumbling around within the opponent team that they make the enemy team pretty rich and its hell to make up for all the Rook dies. Its fine to have the Rook easy playable for new Demigod players, but he just gets steamrolled by more and more experienced players.

Perhaps something easy would do the job - For example give him by default an teleport option with a cooldown of 60 seconds or so. Just as an idea. Rook`s often have to fastly get out of the enemy bunch and its very often new people playing that character.

Thanks for all community efforts !

There has been a new update just now. Tried it a few times.

It now shows the names of players and widly tries to connect with each other.

At the end it throws out the message that the matchmaking failed.

---------

It worked after several attempts - Lets see if its luck or stable now.

---------

Played a Pantheon with 8 Players - 6 humans where replaced by AI, the other player and me where more chatting about the recent  2 updates destroying multiplayer than playing the actual match.

before update = very few bot games a couple 3v3 with all players no drops. after update = failied every attempt at matchmaking and giving up. glad i told friends to not bother with this game when it was even working lol cant imagine what i would have told them if they asked at this stage......

Second update is up. Locking this as it confuses people about the new one.

By the time it's fixed, no one will be left to play. I appreciate the frequent updates, but it feels like they're working at a snail's pace.  -_-
