NEW PATCH : same OLD mp CONNECTION PROBLEMS

Tried the new patch half the day today and found it just as unbearable as the previous version when it comes to MP connections. I still spend about 1 hr trying to get a game started for every 30 min I play. Any chance the P2P system can be scraped entirely in favor of a client-server system? At any rate, I appreciate that SD and GPG are working hard on these and other problems. I'm just sorry that this games true commercial potential may have been missed as more and more players begin to move on. Honestly, this is one great game when you can manage to play it.

In the OP of the thread he is refering to, in his previous post, this quote of Stardock CEO :frogboy:  answers the OP of the present thread :

« We absolutely do not want to do any more "betas" [as was the update of today, on May the 2nd]. The betas don't really solve our problems. We're getting rave emails of people in support today saying how this [May 2] beta "totally fixes connectivity". NO, it doesn't. The only reason it seems that way is because there's so fewer people using beta servers. »

A previous, earlier OP by :frogboy:  , which presented today's Beta update, did specify that it did NOT include the upcoming Connectivity upgrade. That explains the quote I have just cited.

« We ultimately marked it as a beta because we ran out of time and couldn't integrate the updated connection code which meant the existing connection DLL had to be included [...] »

That's too bad to hear.  Whatever they did appears to have fixed it for me (for now).  But if it's just becuase there are fewer players on the server I'm hitting that really isnt' fixed is it.

I hope next week does fix it...if it doesn't they may need to consider more of a "gift" than just 50% of a 2nd copy of demigod because if it's not fixed this time...there won't be anyone left to play the game (at least not enough to make it worth playing).

Come on Stardock fix this so we can play the game.  You know why we are complaining...it's because the game is very fun and has so much going for it, but it's being killed by this one issue.

Demigod can be fun, but this is getting rediculous. Enough of these appologetic fluff filled status reports of "we didn't know it would be like this". Are you seriously in a bubble not paying any attention to darn near EVERY multiplayer game released in the last 10 years? If making an online game - ONLINE elements must be solid.

I'm sick of paying for beta status games which kill themselves due to lack polish and functionality (rip Tabula Rasa...). I'm very close to a permanent uninstall if even the basic elements of this game aren't fixed pronto (wtf - faction points?).

I'm a little grumpy sure. But man fix your game, you've already lost countless players and income.
