Gold income question

I don't see gold income for killing mobs

The game manual states: "Gold. Earned by killing opponents as well as from gold mines your team
has captured."

It says nothing about earning gold from killing mobs.  However I have seen people state you do get gold for killing the mobs.  I do not think this is necessarily true.

For example: Torchbearer casts rain of fire and ice on a stack of 20 mobs.  Gold should jump up big time for killing all those guys at once.  However there is no gold earned at all from this.

Or do you not get gold for using special abilities against mobs?  Do only normal weapon attacks gain you gold?

Thanks for clearing this up.  :)

If you look at this spreadsheet, the types of mobs have a 'bounty' column. I believe this is gold, but could be xp. Maybe you're right about them not giving gold.

Ryan, I have noticed earning gold from killing mobs.  Maybe you weren't close enough for it to count just barely?  According to the manual you have to be within a certain distance of them when they die to earn the money.  A good test would to take Torchbearer or Rook at level 1, go into the middle of some mobs, and nuke them down.  Watch your gold, and if it jumps by 50-100 or so, then it's working as intended I think.
