Questions from a new player

Just picked up this game yesterday, and i gotta say...WOW!  What a beautiful game.  I really should have bought this last year when I first heard about it, but I'm really happy to be here now.  Good work, Ironclad! :D

So, yeah, I just started yesterday.  I did the tutorials, and I started a small 1v1 single player game, playing as the Advent.  I think I'm coming along, but there is so so much going on that I feel a bit overwhelmed.  Are there any good...I'm not sure what they'd be called...AARs or guides going through a game, explaining what's going on, for a new player?  For GalCivII or CivIV I've read a few AARs that did a good job of explaining things and actions that the next time I played the game I had a better idea of what was going on and what to do.  Anything like that for Sins that you know of?

Also, when's a good time to jump into multiplayer.  Honestly, I've never been very good at RTS/4X games (though I love to play them) and I have a feeling that I'm gonna get crushed in multiplayer.  Should I spend some time playing the single player games before I try multiplayer?  Or should I just jump right in?

Thanks for your help.  And, again, great game Ironclad and Stardock!  You're now responsible for the many nights that will surely come where I neglect housework and work-work to play this game.  I hope you're happy with yourself! ;)

A lot of learning comes from just playing a few matches. Set the AI on easiest on the first couple maps, to get the hang of controlling the economy and military smoothly. For help with fleet construction and what-not, I highly recommend looking through the topics at the strategy board. No help is better than from several players. ;)

For multiplayer, I recommend starting after being able to defeat the AI sides fairly quickly and to micromanage. Some of the players online are pretty incredible, and it can be hard to keep up. ^_^

I suggest that you don't play mutliplayer till you can manage at least 9 normal ai at once, then maybe go multi, lose a few rounds, watch some replay

what if you can't beat 1 hard AI ?

Then stick with single-player, like I do.

Or keep practicing.

LOL!

Yeah I'm happy at single player.  I always suck at games anyway, but I love it.

I had been thinking about starting a thread for how to beat Hard AI, but (somehow) only open to players who are at the same level, i.e. trying to do it.  It gets boring when "experts" come along and say how easy it is, and how to do it, I like "discovering" with others in the same situation as me.
