Voice Comms?

A quick 'voice' search didn't show anything for me .. just stuff about voice acting! :D

 

Is there voice comms built into the game.. or will I need to use ventrillo/teamspeak etc to chat to allies in team games?

No built in voice communication.  I know voice chat through Impulse is on SD's to-do list, but I'm not sure when that will happen.  For now it is Vent/TS.

For the time being you will need to use a third party solution. We are planning to add VOIP to Impulse Reactor in future builds, though.

I'd suggest checking out EVE Online (seeing how/what they have done), I just used there in-game voice chat for the first time and was amazed at the clarity.  Steams voice chat leaves little to be desired (bad voice quality).  So I hope you guys do better.

Steam can be great, just depends on your microphone and such.
