making a mod

So this probably wont even be considered modding but I want to make some changes to capital ships health and stuff, make them stronger and more...capital ship like.   What's the easiest way to do this and is it possible to make it like other mods, so that you can turn it on and off within the Sins interface?  Oh, I want to do this with Entrenchment (and if theres already a mod out there that does the same thing please let me know.)  Thanks.

If you download the Forge Tools (Downloads link at the top of the page), it should have a pdf in the Documentation folder there that explains how to make mods, and I'm pretty sure it's updated for Entrenchment (it's a bit different than vanilla for setting up mods). :)

Forge Tools is a pretty broad name for "bunch of stuff you can use to mod". In the archive is map maker, a particle maker, developer executable (lets you spawn ships/buildings on the fly and such).

The only thing you need for yours, though, is trusty ole Notepad for the GameInfo files (in the Reference Data folder in the archive). And the tutorial pdf that goes over how to set up the mod and all that good stuff :)

If you haven't extracted the archive yet, you can use something like WinRAR or 7zip to do it, and then you'll see all the stuff I'm talking about :)

Sigh sorry to keep coming back to this, especially if Annatar answers again, but I did all that stuff and I'm trying to open the GameInfo files but theyre .entity and my computer doesnt seem to have anything that can open them.  I figured notepad would work but it doesnt give me that option.  Any answers?

Just right click > Open With and if Notepad doesn't show up on the list you can browse to it in C:\Windows.

Or you can just open notepad and open the entity files through it (just select all files in the file > open dialog box so that it shows them).

I guess maybe I shouldve been more clear, I did that, I opened notebook and found the GameInfo folder but nothing shows up and when I right click the files no options for opening them appear.
