Impulse won't "verify download"

After reinstalling Sins of a Solar Empire on my laptop, a rather large issue has become apparent. I try to update SoaSE, Impulse downloads the update, but then it starts "verifying download" after an hour, its still verifying. It shouldn't take longer to "verify" a download, then it does to download it. Anyone have any idea whats going on?

Are any of you running real-time antivirus protection?  That can sometimes affect the install process in Impulse.  You could try disabling your AV while you install it.  (Damn, I hate telling people to disable their security apps to fix things.)

I am also trying to go from 1.05 to 1.15

AV (Macaffee) is disabled and it still will not verify.  I even left it overnight in disgust and still nada.

I have tried this process several times, even going so far as to cold boot, turn off AV, and go straight into the update routine and it still will not get past the verification step.

Is there any way to take impulse out of the loop at this point? i.e. get the file that is downloaded and kick off the update manually without worrying about verification of the downoad?

Jakester,

Mine just went. Two factors that may or may not have influenced the fact that it went.

A: when I went to reboot the last time one of the options was "Install updates then shut down"

evidently I had some windows updates pending.  Those were installed before I tried again.

B: I uninstalled the Impulse app that loaded last night and

after the above mentioned updates were loaded I redownloaded/Reinstalled impulse.

This time after it was installed and I went to updates for Sins,

it also said there was an update for Impulse.

Downloaded and installed the impulse update, dowloaded and installed the Sins update. No Issues

Hope this helps.

I was having some severe issues this week. It would hang while downloading the Impulse update, to the point where I couldn't get to the Impulse options since it was still "validating".

I disabled my internet connections, opened Impulse (which then couldn't log in), opened the options, and toggled BITS. Restarted Impulse with my internet active, and it finished downloading the update...only to have a decompression error when it tried to extract it. Had the problem for a few days, but I fixed it today.

Uninstalled Impulse completely, restarted the computer, and installed the full version of Impulse. It downloaded the update and everything was peachy after that. Hopefully that helps.
