@paffinity - Yeah, aware of the Ultramon/Displayfusion wallpaper issues, will be fixing that in the next update in not long.
End of JMB1984's quote

That is several flavors of awesome, right there!

On the about page, there's now a button "Debug Info" ; give it a click. If you can't get the dialog open at all, go there directly by heading to "%appdata%\Stardock\Fences\TroubleshootingLog\". Post the file shown at that location ("fences_debug_info.txt").

Thank you. So, I installed it again.

Can reproduce the error everytime.

I fiddle around with fences a bit and I get a system crash on right-click trying to move a file to the trash can. If I move it by hand, it works and does not crash.

Otherwise: Explorer.exe is crashing, then drwtsn32.exe, with that the system is down.

My .NET 2.0 Version is v2.0.50727.

I sent you, Zubaz, the Debug-Info per pm. It's pretty long...

Although I could not enjoy it a lot - two wishes:

1 - Have in a per-fence-option to do some batch operations with the files. Moving the content to a (prespecified) Windows folder e.g. (would really love this one, apart from the simple fact that I would love it if Fences ran on my system...)

2 - Have the option to show thumbnails of pictures.

Csn you make it compatible with RightClick? At the moment if I enable RC I lose the frames options, and I can't find a way of adding them to the RC menuWhat do you mean by "frame options"?
End of Zubaz's quote

Sorry I meant fence options - rename fence, customize fence etc on the menu when you right-click on a fence or the desktop.  If you enable RC they disappear from the menu (even when the cursor is over a fence)

This is strange.....

When I save a file to my dasktop, it seems to not be there, I can't see it anywhere, when I browse to my desktop with explorer or any other app to open the file, it's there and easy to see. :annoyed:

Is this a bug? feature? setting somewhere?

Thanks

Tea anyone?

Fences is placing files saved to the desktop above and/or underneath icons that are already on it, in fences.  It's really distracting, especially when you save a crapload of things to the desktop, because every time you go to move one of them, it "rearranges" all of the icons again in basically the exact same order as before except it moves everything up one.  I think I even see this same phenomenon with auto-arrange off but I can't remember.

In any case, a "default" fence does not appear to exist, and would be a very good idea indeed.

Someone else in another Fences thread said you guys should do this for folders too-if you do you have my money as well.

:)

@Zubaz: Any info on my problem?

@Others: Should I post the logfile here (it is very long)? Or just simply wait for the next version?

BTW: It definitely interferes with something. Installed it on another XP machine and works as it's supposed to.

This indicates something unique to your system.

Is there an option to tell the non fenced desktop to stay visable by default?

If not i suggest you add an option that allows the user to have the normal unfenced desktop space remain visible.

Cool toy (insert evil laugh, #984389732072369-28703272174.7425654 here "now i finally have a way to keep my desktop clean but keep the my computer and networking stuff on it since i hate the needing to use the start bar to access them")

The originally released version was working fine on my XPP machine.  Updated my NVIDIA 8600M drivers yesterday and now the fences hide with double-click on the desktop but the icons within them stay put on the desktop.  Same behavior as the .037 update was demonstrating.

Correct. To my system, however as well as others.

I will compare the processes of the systems. It works on my old XPhome Computer and on this newly acquired XPpro it ain't workin'...

Thanks for your support.

SP3 seems to be fairly common but doesn't reproduce consistantly.

Can someone explain how this is better than Object Dock Plus with a tabbed background? I can set it to hide the dock without clicking on anything. At least I can access Object Dock Plus even when I have other applications open in full screen mode. Is it because the fences have a semi-transparent background? That feature is available in a lot of Object Dock backgrounds. With Vista Home Premium, I can use Alt-Tab and select my basic desktop if I want an easy way to hide what I have open.....I sure hope I find some answers or that the final product offers something new and imposssible to resist, or, I'm staying with Object Dock Plus.  :)

Like if it worked inside folders, too.

OM NOM NOM NOM NOM.

But it's useful enough for me as is, so YMMV.

YOu should try fences for yourself.  It's free.

I liek it most for the hide desktop icon feature.  That rocks.

I'm also abusing the "transparency" feature to cast a hue over my desktop wallpaper, without altering the image or how any of my applications look, because, quite frankly, it's cooler that way.

Are you guys psychic? LOL

I had been trying something like this manually, using a desktop background that divided my screen up. Needless to say, my clutter outpaced my discipline. Fences came along at a perfect time.

Keep up the great work :)

thanks very much for this...can reduce my objectdock to a little less cluttered too....
