Tutorial movies missing?

Hi there,

I just noticed that all the tutorial movies besides the very first one are missing in my GC2 install (base game + both addons). I verified all three 'games' and Impulse says they are 100% ok.

What happened to the tutorial movies? Are they not part of the Impulse version???

Best regards...

This same thing happened to me, and I have the CD versions of all 3 games.  I even tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling from scratch.  Still, only about 4 or 5 of the videos show up.  I have never been able to figure out why.  If anyone knows please respond.  Thank you.

If you look in the Gfx\Tutorials folder under the location where the game is installed, are they there?

No, all the tutorials do not install.  The first time I installed the original game they all installed fine and i watched them all.  Then I installed the expansions (both) after they came out.  But I noticed after a while that all the tutorials were not showing up any more.  So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled from scratch and they still are not there.  It has been a long time ago, but I remember an error message during installation that must be related, but the game installs and runs fine - it just won't install all the videos.  I did try a bunch of times but it never worked and I just forgot about it.

If it helps I can reinstall again and write down that error message.  But it is really no big deal as I don't really need them any more.  However I am curious why this is happening?

Thanks.

The error message may give some indication as to what went wrong, for both you and us.

I got my install from Impulse and don't get any error whatsoever. I download and install vanilla GC2, then DA and finally TotA - all in the latest versions. No matter what part I start, the movies are missing. TotA at least displays the first intro tutorial movie (that is not even visible in vanilla GC2 and DA) but that's about it.

No messages, no feedback, just missing movie files. Don't know what to do anymore.

Don't wanna sound rude, but is this the support that you think will win you future sales???

IIRC I mentioned this to the Impulse guys when you first brought this up, and they looked into it and sorted any issue there was. I've just installed the game freshly off Impulse myself to confirm this, and all the tutorial movies are present as they should be. Are you still not getting them with a fresh install?

Weren't these from a DL install, at first?

And located by default in Mod_Tutorials\GFX\Tutorials and invoked by their corresponding xmls picked from Mod_Tutorials\data\english\Tutorials while being activated with a gc2_Tutorials.xml file found in the root directory.

Cuz, it might explain why the DA or TA expansions don't detect any.

Today I did a complete download & install of GalCiv II, DA & TA and not only are the tutorial movies missing but the Tutorials button on the Main Menu is greyed out.

And as soon as I tried to start a game it crashed, but that's for another thread!

I found the solution!

I went to this thread

to participate with my crash problem. I downloaded the reg file. It simply adds "English" to the language keys for the three games.

My GalCiv2 registry key had "Language" blank and both DA & TA didn't even have a Language key.

When I started the game the main menu text looked a lot better and the tutorial button was now there and so were all the movies.
