If it can make you feel better, I downloaded the map the moment you posted it +_+! And well lets say IT WAS FUN, but I'm not the expansionist sort of player...
If I'm gonna start enxt to opponents, I wanna nail them ASAP...running away to distant systems is not my style!

Well, I add the extra wormholes to the other stars so you could expand and gather more resources. The first version I had the stars connected, but I found it difficult to reach the higher levels of tech with the lack of logistical slots. I thought about adding more planets to each players starting area. But I found that to encourage major turtle syndrome. And with the random phase lanes and such it was hard to get to the center star plus fight in the belt. And if you play a FFA the wormhole ends up being a back door, or if one of your allies gets crushed. It was just another option to incorporate the other 2 stars and create a choice for players. And yeah it does allow you to run and hide in the other system. I might, if it become semi popluar add wormhole that allow your enemies to reach the other stars more easily.

i played this map the other day, and there was no way to expand to the other galaxies and the wormholes were not working. but it had some great choke points!
