installing custom maps

just a question about installing custom maps, i have tried putting the files in every spot i can think of but they still arn't coming up in the maps.

can anyone help me out here? where do they show up in game (under what menu?) and what folder do i need to put them in?

do the .galaxy files just need to go into the galaxy folder in the install directory or do they also need to go in the galaxy folder in the users folder in my docs?

any help would be appreciated because i have about 6 files i have downloaded and none of them show up.

First of all your galaxy files need to be versioned correctly. Open the file, there's "version number" in the second row. 1 for 1.05 and previous, 2 for 1.1 and later (also for Entrenchment).

The files can be put into the galaxy folder of your Sins install (standard is Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire) then they will show somewhere in the small, medium or large section in the game. If you want them to appear under custom maps, put the galaxy file into: \Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Local Settings\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Maps. The first part is a little different for Vista)

That should work :-)

ok so if there made for an older version is there anyway to make them work with the newer version?

Yes, just change the version number to the one you need and save the file. Notepad sometimes add .txt, which you would have to remove manually.
